So, after 6 months, I've finally updated my damn profile, which means, I have to write my 5th about me. First off, my full name is Timothy James Dailey Jr. and I was born on April 18th 1979 at 7:35am (or somewhere thereabout) in Marion, IN. I don't think I could have been born and raised in a more fitting place. The environment I grew up in allowed me to build the knowledgebase I use to survive and succeed today. Whether it was knowledge gained through different schooling opportunities, knowledge gained in the "country club" setting or all the shit I learned running around wreaking havoc, I can honestly say I have been able to handle everything life has been able to throw at me thus far. I have had more friends murdered, in prison, commit suicide or O.D. then I care to admit. I've caused more heartache, pain, and left more destruction in my wake then I ever thought capable...oh well, live and learn. Thankfully, my life has been full of radical contrasts, I was an altar boy in the Catholic church every Sunday for 15yrs, I was within a few months of becoming an Eagle Scout, I've been involved in nationally competitive video gaming more than once. On the flip side, I've spent more than a month living out of my car, I've had 5 felony charges brought against me, I've done things that have cost my family tens of thousands of dollars. I was lucky enough to spend my younger years travelling to Colorado to compete in ski racing competitions, lucky enough to spend summers at the condo in Florida, lucky enough to at least drive through %80 of the contiguous US, lucky enough to grow up on the good side of town, it was super dope, I AM from "That Family".
All 4 of my family members have bachelors degrees or better, they all avidly play golf (2 of them are 8 handicaps or better) Mom is the Director of Guidance for a school system, dad owns a special fastner business, both of my brothers live within an hour of where we were born and both work in the insurance industry. I was on my way to fitting the mold, finished 2 years of college, worked the corporate gig for 5 years at Microsoft and Disney (after a series of other jobs in the tech industry), shit, at the age of 20, I was making better money than everyone (except dad), but, as I've demonstrated so many times in my life, I can't work for the man. So 5yrs and my life savings later, I am happy to say I've helped build an opportunity for myself that I never thought possible, a little company we like to call TPD.
TPD, wow, what a ride this has been. I remember 5 years ago at Rock Bottom (with DJ Vinnie B & DJ Risk One)like it was yesterday. Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to learn from someone like most in the industry, so, I spent quite a bit of time (which I still do) banging my head against a wall until something worked. TPD was started by yours truly and a friend that was a mediocre club and wedding DJ. We fell into something that we were clueless about. I figured that getting the "most popular" and "life of the party award" in high school was enough to warrant me starting a promotion company. I was under the impression that what we had done at Rock Bottom which was essentially equivalent to catching lightning in a bottle, was as easy as handing out flyers and advertising our next event over a mic. Well, we tried that, right before Rock Bottom was shut down in December of 03 we decided to move our party to Mr. Luckys in Queen Anne....FAILURE....then we started our new Thursday nights at Seoul Olympic Restaraunt in Bellevue...FAILURE...next we were lucky enough to land a gig at the Shark in Kirkland which I can proudly say was the worst deal in the history of nightlife promotions, but, I am DAMN GLAD I got it. By this time in our history, we were officially an LLC, we had developed a website and we had started posting pictures on it, we had even designed & printed what was now 3 or 4 whole sets of flyers, all of which I paid for out of my own pocket. The website was our big win, it contained a number of things that were firsts in the Seattle nightclub industry. It was the first site to require signup when you went to view your pictures, it was the first site to have an automated VIP system for its members, it was the first site to have branded pictures (excepting SeaSpot) and it was one of the first sites that allowed you to purchase event tickets. Needless to say, all of this cost a shit ton of money, a shit ton of money that we weren't making. My deal at the Shark allowed me a 5 person guestlist, that was it, no drink tickets, and if more than 5 came through, I had to pay for them myself. Basically, I was spending about $80 a week on other peoples cover, $100 for drinks, $75 for our photographer, and I was spending about 30hrs working on TPD centric material. I was more or less paying $250 for my 30 hour TPD work week. Well, it paid off, during the next 2 years, 04 and 05, we did a Saturday Night at Marina Cantina....FAILURE...a Monday at Marina Cantina...FAILURE...a Sunday at The Shark Club...FAILURE...then I met the man you all know at Ronnie William Connery as well as a man named Aaron Byers (who I credit with alot of my knowledge early on) and together we threw some mediocre events at clubs like Medusa, Down Under, and Fox Sports Grill...actually the Fox Sports NYE party was crackin, we just didn't make any money, which wasn't necessarily bad as we lost money on all of the other "mediocre" events, we were just glad people showed up. Finally, we started a Wednesday at Last Supper Club which was also another CLOSSAL FAILURE, until August of 2005 when myself, Ronnie, and Aaron Byers decided to dump 5k (which we lost) into Heavenly Bliss (our 1st White Party). This event was a HUGE success, numbers werent as high as we've experienced since, but it started a buzz about TPD (best 5k I've ever spent). We followed that event with a lingerie party, a bed party, and a few DJ:AM parties. Shortly there after, the TPD you now know was born. In October of 2005, I was lucky enough to meet the right hand man of one of the most successful promoters in Seattle history, Mr. Eric Hilton. We sat down for at a coffee shop one evening and decided fairly quickly that I had built quite the east side following spending my $250 a week for the better part of the last 2 years, so, we combined that with everything he brought to the table and we began to plan something a lot bigger than Thursdays at The Shark. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you F*ck the Paparazzi at TJ's. This was the first profitable event I had ever worked on. Eric had worked things in such a way (and has continued to do this over the past 2 years) that it was nearly impossible for us not to profit. Luckily, I still had my corporate job as we weren't making NEAR enough money to survive on promotions alone. Next came Tuesdays & Sundays at Venom...FAILURE and FAILURE...a Tuesday and Friday at TJ's FAILURE and FAILURE...a Saturday at Down Under and a Wednesday at Tommy's FAILURE and FAILURE. All of these were of course learning experiences and all of these helped us grow even more. During this time, we also moved back and forth from TJ's to the Shark a few times, which gave us great leverage when it came to negotiating our contracts, things couldn't have been better. Finally in May of 06 I fell asleep in a meeting, lost my corporate job, and it's been TPD full time ever since. Other milestones include August of 06 when we started Privilege at Tabella, picking up the most successful midweek event ever with Wednesdays at J&M, starting the TRUE division of TPD which began the wildly Successful Friday at BUDS, the start of Project Pats Fridays at J&M, partnering with London Trash for their Sin Sundays at Heaven, Tabella, Level V and now Sugar, as well as a brief partnership on Sundays at Tommys with the PartyBoys. We had a few more successful special events as well at clubs like Trinity, Twilight and of course NYE at the Pier and NYE on the lake. Of course there were a few more FAILURES in there , Mondays and Fridays at Babalu, Fridays at Venom, Wednesdays at War Room, Fridays at Level V and Sundays at See Sound. Of course, TPD wouldn't be shit without those that have helped along the way so let me take a minute to thank everyone personally (some may be mentioned twice). First and foremost my longtime right hand girl, Le Bean, the official Queen of Seattle nightlife. The man that makes it happen on the clothing side of things and then some, fuckin Finch. Our mentors Matt Osborn and Aaron Byers as well as those individuals and companies before us USC, Electrify, Dragon Entertainment, Prolific Records, Mindset Entertainment, Tingppem, Obese, DruHa, Capo, Kevin Healy and the entire crew originally at Planet Hollywood. Those past (not previously mentioned) and current companies that have made a difference in Seattle Nightlife.. Soul Gorilla, Pure Productions, Liquify Ent., KBK (formerly A&B), Epoch Entertainment, Steady Pro, Whisper Entertainment and Rareform plus all of those that I have forgotten, my apologies, I respect and appreciate everything you do for Seattle Nightlife. The up and comers The Partyboys, The Go Gettas and The Party Army. TPD's longest current promoters Linsday and Chris. The division heads at one time or another, Corey, Chris, Toby, Brandon, Nick, Brian and DJ. Those that have run operations or been the corner stone at some point in time, Ronnie Connery, Rosie, Patty, Giovanni, Kam, Wayne Hughes (R.I.P), Matt Mead, Project Pat, Rafael and David Rock. Those that have been responsible for the actual operations themselves Jun, Angel, Obi, and Brian 2. The creative ones Dave Soto, Kirk, Stephen Vu, Dave Mars, Jay Christopher, Toby (again), Tyler Griffin and Jacob from Punch Drunk. The DJ's Vinnie B, Risk, Reaction, Scene, DV-One, DJ Quinn, DJ Deniro, DJ Dakota, DJ Ryan Milano, DJ Whatever, DJ Supa Sam, DJ Vinnie The Pooh, DJ Funkdaddy and DJ Topspin. The guest DJ's: DJ Kevin Scott, DJ Evil One, DJ Steve Wonder, DJ Spider, DJ Fashen, DJ StoneRokk, DJ Graham Funke, DJ AM, DJ Homicide, DJ Scribble, DJ Sizzahandz, DJ Morse Code, and DJ Muggs. The talent Dan Purser, Danity Kane, Syrus, Tila Tequila and Fat Joe. The voices J Young, Eddie Francis and the Rocksteady Kid. The sponsors: Sureel, Bikini Beach, Rockstar, Red Bull, Miller Lite, Ed Hardy, True Love False Idols, Hideous Liquor, Sobe, Desert Sun and more ! Can't forget the promoters (gonna try and get anyone who has ever turned in a list, some may be official some may not be), they make it all possible. Vernon, Desmund, Clint, Calvin, Daniel, Colin, Tadow, Eric, Junior, Laith, Townsend, Celia, Kristi, Ryan, Bo, Racca, Nick, Jay, Arash, Joe, Ryan, TC, Derek, Will, Jamie, Elaine, Erica and Boston. So there you have it, the unofficial history of TPD and the thanks to everyone that has made it possible ! If I have forgotten someone or something PLEASE call me out so I can fix it.
Now, finally, getting to a few more things, life philosophy, "game" and relationship(s). So, life philosophy, it's actually fairly simple, everything I do is based around a few simple ideas. I do believe in Karma (to a point) and I do believe in the golden rule, do unto others as you would have others do unto to you, in short, what goes around comes around. I haven't been the best person I can be lately, just needed a break from that job. If the past 28 years have taught me anything its that you need to do you first. Assess your values and morals, set your goals and go for it. Do things because you want to do them, not because you want something in return. If you're a cordial, kind and caring person, it will come back 10 fold. If you are passionate about what you do and you do it to the best of your ability money will come. Shit is never as bad as it seems, you aren't living in a 3rd world country curled up in a corner dying of malaria and starvation. Remember this, MONEY COMES, the thing that stresses the majority of us out should never do so. I've been in monsterous debt and been just as happy as one of my friends worth nearly a billion dollars. Something else that I've learned being in the scene is that you CAN'T get caught up in what others think about you, or what you do or don't have. You will never be good enough or have enough if you approach things that way. I heard a girl the other day talking about her $300 True Religions to one of our promoters, that used to be me, $300 is a cheap pair of jeans compared to whats in my closet, now though, I just do me, I get what fits my style, I don't get shit so I can talk about how much it costs. Same with those who floss their houses and cars, its dope if you like nice things and you have a passion that generates enough income for you to be that comfortable. If your passion doesn't generate that kind of income you can have a life just as fufilling. You know, that reminds me of a few conversations I've overheard that have been very humbling to say the least. I've been lucky enough to hear a few billionaires talk shit in my day, it makes you realize how foolish these guys that are that are flossing their small fortunes look. I'm not hating on those with money, I'm hating on those that are after money to impress people, if thats you, you're a bitch, dig ? On the what people think about you tip, well, if I listened to all the shit talked about me, I would have killed myself mid-way through 06.
Now, the interesting paragraph. I need to preface this, actually no I don't, in case you haven't quite figured it out yet, let me break "having game" down to you. Okay, there are 3 basic rules. Be desireless, be excellent, be gone. That will work for ANY situation, you just have to tailor it to the person you are attempting to game. Of course you can't ignore the obvious rules i.e. talking about yourself for the entire first date, personal hygiene, etc, etc. You have to realize, everyone has a chance with everyone, its all about perception. Honestly think about this. If you're in the club, SOBER, with your girls/guys and you are presented with 2 opportunities. Both of them are extremely good looking, both are very well spoken, both are friends of one of the friends you are with, you meet both at the beginning of the night, one shakes your hand, says nice to meet you and then goes on with their night, maybe you catch them checking you out once or twice but for the most part they are focused on their good time. You are introduced to the 2nd who takes the same initial approach but proceeds to hang beside you for the rest of the evening, mind you, this is your first time meeting, which one are you going to go for....the desireless one. The first step can be tailored though, you need to read the person off the bat, you will get some that want a little more initial attention than others (it's always possible to over do it) you'll get some that for whatever reason seem like they just aren't feeling you at all. Realize up front that there is a reason for that, maybe you're "off limits" because of a past relationship, maybe they have heard people talk shit about you and they are heeding what they have heard, if thats the case, its your job to figure out whats up and gauge excactly how you need to play your initial card, there is the rare occasion that you need to lay it all out from the get go, but that's rare. Okay now we get to next part, you've picked the desireless one, you see him/her out 2 or 3 more times, each time things get a little more friendly, you finally exchange numbers and you decide to do something outside of the club. Now, this is where he/she can make it or break it with their excellency. Why do you think promoters pull so many women ? Its the same reason that athletes do. Their excellency is very public. This piece of the puzzle plays off of basic instinct, nothing is sexier to a counterpart than a successful person with ambition and drive, you just need to be able to prove you have all of the above with out being too obvious about it. For instance, if you were me, by the time you had gotten to this point (doing something outside the club), you would already be way ahead of the game. Remember promoters and athletes are excellent in a very public way, you normally see us shine during the initial meeting phase (discussed above) as our excellence is displayed in the club by being a humble version of "the man". However, if you aren't promoter, professional athlete, etc you might do something like invite your new friend to watch you play basketball where you very humbly score 40 and never mention it again, you might take them to a concert and get them backstage to see their favorite band while acting like its nothing, maybe even take them to a restaraunt where everyone knows you, set up getting your meal comped in advance while acting like its all normal yet being very grateful. Let your actions do the talking when it comes to being excellent, people hate nothing more than to hear you talk about how good you are, just show them, but be natural and nonchelant about it. Now its time to be gone. This is simple, its getting off the phone first its keeping the other person guessing, you should have figured this shit out in high school. However, depending on the maturity level you need to keep some people guessing longer than others, just as well there are people that won't put up with that shit for long at all. Some important things to remember during this process is that people are different, the same game doesn't work on everyone, step back and watch the person you want for a while before you make your move, see what they respond too. The biggest mistake people make is thinking that the same type of game works on every person, it takes variations, trust me. Most of this comes into play during conversation, some people want a listener, some people want someone who empowers them, some people are just waiting for you to say the right thing, the thing that breaks their predetermined stereotype and others...well...it just takes a lot of repetition and a lot of consistent effort. Maybe you agree with me, maybe you don't, bottom line, I've got references, do you? :)
Okay, relationships, hmm, so, when you're done with all the bullshit that I've talked about above, you end up wanting something that I know little to nothing about. I've tried, I'm just not very good at it. I have definitely enjoyed all relationships in the past and have learned something from each and every one of them. I have just recently started something new in my life, I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and I'm actually very excited about it, the timing is finally right for me, I just hope it's right for her. Never in my life have a had to work so hard, I have done nothing over the past year except build a negative image of myself in terms of being relationship material. I have spent the last 3 months getting stepped on and ran over, while contstantly fighting an uphill battle, and deservedly so. Now I'm here, the reminants of everything in past are still making things a bit difficult but the battle is getting easier and the trust is slowly forming. I'm looking forward to the next few months, stoked about the possibility that this is actually going to work, that I'm going to be able to the person I claim I've become, proof that I can grow up even more than I have over the year previous to this. Is this the end of the road, is this the one, or is it just another opportunity for growth and learning, don't get me wrong I have certain expectations of what is to come, plenty of things that I would like to see happen, but only time will tell, you just can't force sh*t, if the timing isn't right, if things aren't as they seem, there is nothing you can do. Oh btw, the girl, if you haven't figured it out already, her name is Tara :)
Other important facts include but are not limited to the following: I love the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS unconditionally, I have been a fan for almost 20 years, fuck the bandwagon, I am the bandwagon, you like the colts as of recent, its my wagon that you're getting on. The colts are more important to me than all of about 10 people, I'm sorry if you're not in that ten, its not a bad thing, putting you in that ten would be like putting you before god ya dig. This just in, Eric Hilton is a genius and as of a few months ago we have started the Hill Rich clothing line BUY SHIT . We are continuing to work towards giving you the best product possible. Don't sleep on it, this shit is hot fire.
So there you have it, everything you could possibly want to know about me and tpd, however, if there is something else you want to know, hit me up.
