About Me

Piero Passatore is an actor, director, screenwriter, story editor, and is a first time producer on the feature film En Los Ojos de Joana. Piero is Italian by birth and heritage but considers himself a citizen of the world, having lived and studied abroad in New York City, New York State, London, England, and Hawaii for 18 years. He had been editor in chief of both of his high school’s newspapers and won various scholarships to study journalism before changing his major to film. He received a Bachelors of Science with a dual concentration in Film and Theater Studies from the City University of New York. During those years Piero acted in numerous student and semi-professional short films and college theater productions, worked regularly on large film and television sets as an extra, worked as a film and theater critic for both The Brooklyn College Kingsman and The Hunter College Envoy, and directed Più Grande, an original theater comedy written by Angela Rago for the Italian American Community. Piero then moved back to his native city of Torino, Italy and went on enroll himself in a Master of Arts program in American Studies, acted in three feature films including the part of the protagonist in The Etruscan Mask, wrote, directed, and edited two music videos, Progetto 999 and Lonesome Blues, and wrote and co-wrote several short and feature films which he is preparing either to direct or produce.www.pieropassatore.it

My Interests

Basketball, hip hop, movies of all types and genres as long as they are of quality or have Marlon Brando in them.

Italian-American rapper Nick Galluzzo, AKA DeCoy, journeys across the Atlantic to Torino, the historic first capital city of Italy, to explore the roots and present-day culture of the local rap and hip hop scene. From interviews with the best rappers, DJs, and rap experts of the Torino scene, Pizza, Pasta, Mafia, & Hip Hop will capture the essence of this intriguing and highly expressive-subculture that has been continuously evolving and gaining popularity for over twenty years. The documentary will dig deep to show when and how the Torino hip hop movement began, how it grew, and how it plans to propel itself out of its current niche environments: rap nights in clubs/discotheques and live performances in centri sociali (squats). Together with DeCoy, cultural ambassador to the Italian-American hip hop movement, the documentary will explore how these Torino rappers see the world and their opinions on rap and hip hop music as a form of communication, which often results in fascinating social criticism and commentary. Considering American rap as the main influence for Italian rap music, the documentary will reveal parallelisms between the reception of the rap and hip hop culture in Italy and its role in the Italian-American rap community, whose collective mental image of Italy is predominantly shaped by Mafia movies/tales, and stories during pasta dinners handed down from grandparents and great grandparents about an Italy that no longer exists.

Writing, directing and editing shorts and music videos for myself when I am not working for the man

Check out the new video I just shot and edited for DJ Mesta

I am interested in world events and the idea of doing what I can to help make the world become better place for all types of people that respect human life and cultural differences. I hope Obama wins the next elections in The United States. It's time to start taking some of the trash out.

this is a scene from the first short film I ever acted in back in 2002 at Hofstra Uni in Long Island. I played the part of Max, an American Football player who thinks he's hot shit. I weigh like 20 pounds less now so keep that in mind if you are a casting director or director. But I am always down to lose or gain weight for a role. Anywayz, I spend the entire film trying to find out who the guy that my girlfriend left me for is so I can beat their ass. This is the scene in which I find out. Enjoy.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends that I have lost touch with over the years. In particular Saquib Malik. If you are out there then this message is for you "Damnit dude, what the hell happened to you?!? Meaning how come it seems like you fell off the face of the earth, I have tried everything to track you down save higher a private investigator

Progetto 999 : Il fuoco che è in te (Video Art)

Italian rappers that could benefit from low budget music videos made by a future auter film director, meaning me. All Italian rap artists would benefit a lot from well made, meaning written, directed, and edited music videos. Things that are original, have personality and film making craft to them. I think that every mix tape or album demo should have at least one video circulating on youtube or metacafe. But if the videos are directed by the rappers themselves, who never went to film school nor have worked on a professional film set, then maybe having them circulate too much on youtube is not a great idea. Then I would like to meet and establish professional relationships with various film people in general. Mainly screenwriters, actors (in Italy or close by), directors, assistant editors, and especially producers who have an I for talent and our actually out looking for it.

Music:

80 percent of what I listen to is hip hop and rap. I like various forms of dance music if I am dancing, minimal and trance in particular but I never listen to them outside of clubs. I got love for classic rock and roll, like The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, most of the Beatles, John Lennon as a solo artist, etc.

Grunge I dug a lot as well, mainly Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana.

2Pac and Bob Marley are some of my musical idols.

Movies:

I would take about a week to do this properly. I can however say who my favorite 6 directors are: 1. Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Elia Kazan, Stanley Kubrick, and then about 30 of them tied for 6th place. This mocumentary 'Death of a President' I found particularly interesting and definitely recommend it

Television:

Chappelle Show. I miss that show damnit. I still don't understand why Dave Chappelle can't have his own show where he calls all of the shots, if the problem with the old show was his lack of creative freedom and that he felt like a puppet.

The Sopranos. It was the most brilliant television of all time. It seams to do it injustice even calling it 'Television'. I think they should really pay the actors and creative staff something outrageous and do another 3 seasons. They would have to create new characters now, especially since they killed Christopher off. But he can always come back on as a ghost and still get high and drive Tony nuts.

Decoy's Live Christmas Special. Greatest Italian American Rapper out there. You can buy his tracks on I-Tunes, and you should

Books:

Crime and Punishment, The Bluest Eye, On the Road, Women (by Bukowski), and some Edgar Allen Poe short stories. I am ashamed to say that I don't really read much anymore. I read like crazy from high school to the completion of my masters almost two years ago but nothing since. All I do is work. If I read something now is because I am translating it editing it. And I read books on film and directors and actors.

Heroes:

My father first and foremost. If had hadn't been for his hard work and effort at becoming someone very important from extremely humble beginnings; then I never would have had the luxury of studying what I did and being able to do what I do. Pops, I am eternally grateful.

2Pac- He was a genius that also passed away before his time.

This dude is seriously nuts and that's what I love about him. He used to be one of my heros back in the day, before I realized how fucking psychotic he really was. But I still got love for the dude. This clip is hilarious.

Brad Pitt- Not so much of a hero but more of a current role model in film.

Marlon Brando: For being the best actor of all time. When he died I felt I lost an uncle. Mind you I never actually met the man in person

Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro: For being the natural descendants of Brando.

Spike Lee: For being able to perfectly insert politically strong and provocative themes in commercial studio films.

Snoop Dogg: For having the coolest vocabulary, having directed porns and coached little league football. I love people who are eclectic like that. His last album was stone cold amazing, The Blue Carpet Treatment, so people need check it out and give it a fare chance as an album and not just write it off saying that he didn't have a hot album since his first.

There are really too many too mention.
