About Me

Basic education. Left school and home at Fifteen. Apprentice jockey, factory worker, building site labourer, milkman, two years in Diplomatic service, other industrial work but mostly in horse racing until four years ago when I started work in a local sawmill. I'm married to a wonderful woman, Jan.We have two fantastic kids Jeannie and Andrew. Jeannie and her husband Stuart ( lovely man) have brought our first grandchild "Sam" into the world. He is gorgeous !!

My Interests

Family and friends. Music of all sorts but mainly Country and Bluegrass plus good Rhythm and Blues, Soul and Jazz. What's Good? - Whatever I enjoy really.Reading. I watch a lot of television ( probably too much ). I still have a love for the horses and our two dogs - " Fern" and Winnie" ( known as " Whiffer" for reasons I won't go into).

I'd like to meet:

Many old friends with whom we have lost touch. I would also like to meet some friends I have made on the internet who have been very kind and generous to me.If I could travel through time I would like to meet Charles Dickens.

Music:

I played banjo with the "Radio Cowboys" bluegrass band. The Maltese Falcon, the Big Sleep, Rififi, and other older thrillers, Broadway Danny Rose plus any Woody Allen, Marx Bros, Fargo, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, The Usual Suspects, Bullitt, the Magnificent Seven, Delicatessen.

Television:

Documentaries, with a preference for musical or political subjects. Comedy, Dad's Army, the Office, Dinner Ladies. Police drama , Morse etc. I enjoy American humour too - Third Rock from the Sun, Evening Shade, Mash, Cheers , and going back a bit - Jack Benny and George Burns and Gracie Allen.

Books:

Anything by or about Dickens. Victorian poetry. Biographies of all sorts. James Lee Burke's " Dave Robicheaux" stories.John Le Carre. Anything by Bill Bryson. Country/Bluegrass history books especially those with a lot of photo's of the artists.
