Graduating from two of Southern California’s best known massage schools, the Institute of Professional Practical Therapy and the Southern California School of Massage, as well as the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage with full certification and licensing, after completing 550 hour massage courses. Maggie has always been in a ‘caring’ profession, having worked for a non-profit organization serving reading and physically disabled students, taught as a K-12 substitute teacher in Claremont,CA, as well as being an elementary school teacher for over twenty years in England, her homeland.
Always being involved in sports, as a teacher, coach, parent volunteer and participant, Maggie saw first hand how quickly the body heals after injury with the inclusion of massage, physical therapy and muscle specific exercises. From swimming, to horse riding, to netball (a team sport similar to and derived from basketball; developed in the United States, and while essentially unknown in its homeland, is a top women's team sport in the United Kingdom), to rock climbing with a little bit of passive yoga and Tai Chi thrown in, Maggie has taken part in a varied selection of sports, leading to a varied selection of injuries! Dabbling in massage as a result of such injuries, Maggie decided to add “Learn to give a proper massage†to her list of life goals. Whilst balancing a full time job and family, she found the time on weekends to start massage school, quickly discovering an inner joy in not only receiving a massage, but also when giving. It was soon clear that this was more than just a goal, it was destiny.
Massage is not just a ‘special treat’, it is restorative, recuperative and uplifting, a healing wisdom, something that everyone should know about and partake in. The healing created by massage brings into being a wisdom that the body perceives and wholly accepts.
"There comes a time in the spiritual journey when you start making choices from a very different place. . . And if a choice lines up so that it supports truth, health, happiness, wisdom, and love, it’s the right choice." Angeles Arrien
