About the cause: The LLS is the world's largest volunteer organization dedicated to blood cancer research, education, and patient services. Before the LLS was formed and during its earliest years, blood cancer was a veritable death sentence for anyone who developed it. However, since its founding in 1949, the LLS has raised nearly $500 million for blood cancer research -- it has essentially written the book on all we know about these diseases. In turn, these studies have led to breakthrough after breakthrough and made blood cancer the increasingly treatable disease it is today.
This organization means a lot to me personally because both of my parents have now been diagnosed with forms of blood cancer. My father was diagnosed with a form of leukemia back in late December of 2000 and, in August of 2006, my mother was told she has multiple myeloma. Thankfully, my father's been in remission ever since his first few rounds of chemotherapy. We're hopeful and confident that my mom will have similar success in her upcoming battle, but there's simply no substitute for a cure -- which is why we must keep supporting the organizations that are leading us in that direction.
So, please, join friends with The Dude Hates Cancer here on Myspace. Spread the word and help me raise money and awareness for this most important cause!
All the best,
