On August 13 1727, a prayer meeting started that lasted 100 years. Revival had broken out among some Moravian refugees in the small village of Herrnhutt, on the German-Czech border, where Christian aristocrat Count Zinzendorf had allowed them to live on his land. As a result, 24 of the Hurrnhutters committed themselves to covering each hour of the day with intercession. The village Prayer Tower was permanently manned throughout the years, often by young people and children, leading to the sending out of 3000 missionaries across the world, a staggering feat in those days.
As Christians we drive by "strip clubs" and some will say a quick prayer "God close that place down" or “God change the hearts of the men and women that frequent that club". In our hearts and spirits we understand that these establishments cause pain to the families of the men and women that attend. Strip club is a stronghold for Satan to spread lies to the men and women involved.
Let me ask a question, when was the last time we saw one of these clubs close? I have lived in Denver my whole life, the only “big†stories I have heard about strip clubs was someone was opening an “upscale†club downtown, and that that the mayor of Fereal Height was present during a raid on a club in that town. Never have I turned on the news to hear that Christians have joined forces to force out a club. Why not? Is it because God is calling us to step up and take action? He wants to answer our prayers, and is waiting for the people he has called out, to obey. Please don’t misunderstand me, God has the power to close a strip club without us! God also has given some men and women desires to be used by God to help in closing down strip clubs.
As Christians we all believe in the power of Prayer. We support a national day of prayer, city wide fasts, and 40 days of prayer. We have church, or maybe even city wide “day of fastingâ€. And we see change! At the very least it changes who we are when we’re fasting and praying. At a higher level, hearts in our city have been changed. At the Highest level, we don't even know what was done in the spirit realm.
What would happen if Denver had a place of prayer and worship, open 24/7? Inviting God to take our city, opening up the heavens for anointed evangelism and community transformation? (Ps 133) A place where we can encounter Gods presents in a personal way that transforms us into his image. (2 Cor 3:18) A place where God is worshipped, simply because God is worthy of worship (Rev 5).
What happens if both happen? We want to know!
We invite you to know. We invite you get involved. But more than anything we ask you to stand with us in prayer. Join our email list and keep yourself updated on what God is doing. God may be leading you to join us, all are welcome! God has called some to walk and pray. God has called other to give financially. God has called others to get the word out on what the vision is. We ask only you obey the Holy Spirit in what he is calling you to.
