I have received a few e-mails from people asking if I accept donations. The answer is that I do not accept donations or compensation of any kind. I am not a non-profit organization and I cannot accept items or money legally. Although I can make all the claims I can that any monies or items will be put to good use, there is no actual way to verify this fact. Therefore I do not accept any donations. This is to protect myself as well as anyone else who is interested in what I do.
That being said, I am currently working with the Portland Rescue Mission to accept donations that can be made in my behalf. Any items that I can take with me on patrol I will gather from the Mission.
The Mission's Wish List has a detailed list of items they need (including clothing, food, and even old cars).
Anything that an individual donates that is not on the want list will be distributed to any other number of local charities. This is found at www. portlandrescuemission. org/give/wishlist. For more information, please contact
Kyle Costello at kylec@pdxmission. org.

5. Carry Tri-Met tickets and encourage them to get to the Portland Rescue Mission for food, shelter and other immediate needs.
6. Keep water bottles in your car and offer a refreshing drink.
7. Go out of your way to approach them, rater than crossing the street to avoid them
8. Afterward, be sure to pray for them… for both their physical needs as well as their spiritual hunger.
9. Be tender, ready to share hope and encouragement. Carry tracts if that’s useful.
10. Download the adobe pdf file provided below with the coupons and carry them with you. Tape them to a snack bar or water bottle. Tell the person you give to the Portland Rescue Mission so that their needs will be met.

Here is an overview of the Good Samaritan Laws.
All 50 states have enacted Good Samaritan laws that give legal protection to people who are willingly give emergency care to an ill or injured person.
The laws require the “Good Samaritan†to-
Act in good faith
Not be deliberately negligent or reckless
Act within the scope of his or her training.
Not abandon the person after starting to give care.
Obtaining Consent.
Before giving first aide to a conscious adult, I must obtain permission to give care. A conscious person has the right to either refuse or accept care.
1. I will state my name
2. Tell the person I am trained in first aid
3. Ask the person if I can help them
4. Explain what I think may be wrong
5. Explain what I plan to so.
I will not give care to a conscious person who refuses it.
However I will call 911 or the local emergency number.
If the conscious person is an infant or child, I will get permission to give care from the parent or guardian if present.
If the person is unconscious or unable to respond due to the illness or injury, consent is implied. Implied consent means if the person could respond, he or she would agree to be cared for.
