My name is Jon-Olov Woxlin, and I come from the province of Helsingland, in the north of Sweden. The Beatles amazed me at an early age, which later made me get fond of other foreign artists, like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. However, I have always been a Swedish folk musician, but over the past one and a half year I have started taking a liking to American folkmusic; like bluegrass and country.
My music have been played on several radio stations around the world. Four times on the Australian radio station Hawkesbury Radio and the program Music from Foggy Hollow, three of which were played on request. On the radio program famous bluegrass and country stars, like Dolly Parton and Ricky Skaggs, also did sing.
My music have also been played on the internet radio station www.bluegrasscountry.org, approximately 20 times.
I've also been broadcasted on Swedish nation wide radio a few times, for instance when I was participating in the final of the Swedish championship in composing folk tunes.
This summer I've been performing all around the county, playing violin at funerals and weddings. Also I've been acting in a great successful drama performance, called Armsjömordet (www.armsjomordet.se), where I performed and partly made the music. Otherwise I've been on stage on festivals and other events, playing guitar and singing own material.
Right now I'm studying classic violin at a school in the north of Sweden, the second year.
NEWS: I've gotten to the finals of Gävleborgs Musikpris
I've advanced to a higher education within violin playing, in Örebro.
I'll be playing backup fiddle to the legendary Sun Records artistsRayburn Anthony & Carl Mann
Iv'e gotten to the finals of P4 ARTIST 2008 and will perform live on stage in Gävle, 9th of July; which also will be broadcasted live on radio.
