My name is Dr. Niles Crane and I am a psychiatrist in Seattle. I was born in Seattle toHestor Crane, a psychiatrist, and Martin Crane, a police detective. I have an older brother, Dr. Frasier Crane who is a popular Seattle radio psychiatrist. I was an unusually sensitive child growing up, and a frequent target for bullies. As a result, I was quite close to my older brother, and at the same time fiercely competitive with him. Like my brother Frasier, I too (much to my father's disappointment) eschewed interest in traditional 'manly' pursuits in order to focus on and excel in fine arts and crafts, music and more intellectual, more 'cultural'-based pursuits. Like my brother, I was drawn to the arts, but differed from Frasier with his greater interest in writing, writing numerous plays and articles for school newspapers.I was inspired by my mother's example and I attended Yale and Cambridge for my tertiary education and training. I am greatly respected professionally and I run my own Jungian practice in Seattle, WA, and of which I have had my research published in several academic psychiatric journals.I am a shy person, and many of my early relationships were unsuccessful. I eventually met and married Maris, the daughter of a wealthy Seattle family (whose wealth was based on urinal cakes, and not lumber, as she told everyone). Although I was not an entirely happy our marriage, our union was largely successful, based on our shared social-climbing instincts and concerns with status, and our many combined neuroses (I admit it). Maris, is a selfish, haughty, highly-strung prima donna with a great deal of neuroses (mainly concerning her body image). I was dominated and emasculated throughout our marriage, until after fifteen years I finally snapped and walked out. After a long separation period ensued, with numerous attempts at reconciliation followed by a bitter and protracted divorce during which Maris used her lawyers to spitefully punish me, cutting me off from her funds and bleeding me dry until a change of lawyer and my final discovery of the true source of Maris' wealth finally allowed me to gain the upper hand.I have been married three times, though I am not proud of it. My second wife was Dr. Melinda "Mel" Karnofsky, Maris' plastic surgeon. We began dating following my divorce from Maris, and our courtship was quite happy (despite Mel's own collection of neuroses and tendency to dominate me). We eloped and married on an impulse, but the marriage was short-lived and fell apart after two days when I finally professed my love for Daphne Moon, my father's physical therapist. Both Maris and Mel tortured me with long, drawn-out breakups based on spite (although in Mel's justification, I did leave her for another woman two days after our marriage). In ending my marriage to Mel, I was required to pretend to be happily married to her so that their high society friends wouldn't find out, and I was forced to stay away from Daphne in public. Eventually We were divorced and I married Daphne in Reno, NV. The two of us were happily married and we now have a beautiful son, David, who was born on in a pet hospital on May 13th, 2004.Both my brother and I are extremely similar: both of us are admittedly snobby with fussy natures and impeccable gourmet tastes. We both admire the fine arts including opera, theatre and classical music; we drink fine wine and enjoy high culture and social gatherings. We are both particular about our tastes in clothes and furnishings, preferring things expensive and classy.Here is a little additional information about me, I drive a Mercede-Benz E320 with the licence plate SHRINK and my IQ is 29 points higher than Frasier's.
