Guitarist Adam Schalke is gaining recognition in the Colorado music scene rapidly. Moving from the Chicago area in late 2002, he has set out to make a name for himself as a songwriter and musician for hire.
Adam quickly found his niche by playing at local jams, and gaining the respect of established members of the Boulder music community. From this, Adam joined the Skye Downing Band and enjoyed a long run of playing high-energy blues in various venues throughout the Front Range and beyond.
Currently, Adam is working in two bands. The Heavy Cats , is a blues/funk/rock collective that has a bi-monthly Monday night gig at the Pearl St Pub in Boulder. The Heavy Cats feature Lionel Young on vox and violin, Mark Diamond on bass, and Jay Forrest on drums. Adam also plays one-off gigs with the Lionel Young Band.
Recently, Adam started playing guitar in a band named Ten Tiers . This original Alt/Pop/Rock group is currently playing shows all over Colorado, please take a look at the calendar and stop in sometime.
Adam is also growing as a songwriter. Even though his guitar work leans towards funk, rock, and blues, as a composer Adam is drawn towards the sounds of Alt-Country/Americana. The songs posted on this page are all original compositions, with production assistance from Adam's longtime musical collaborator/producer Scott Lawlor . Scott sings lead vocals on the track 'Tomorrow'.
Finally, Adam has dipped his feet into the realm of film scoring. JT, the lead singer/songwriter from the band Ten Tiers and Adam recently finished their first score for a short film called Demption. Demption features David Krumholtz from the popular CBS show Numbers. More details will be coming in the near future.. Stay tuned!
