What writing from that most painful place in our heart really feels like. They have either read Kaya Davis's book Anatomy of a Love Jones or they have experienced the pain that a Love Jones brings.

Influences: When I first started writing, my poetry was very flowery. Then I heard about Sonia Sanchez. That was back in 94 maybe 96. I went to the library and checked out all her books. I read a poem called A Poem for Some Women. It touched me so deeply that I had to put the book down for a couple of days. I was like Wow! I can say that? I can tell people how I really feel? My writing has never been the same since. Sonia Sanchez is my all time hero.
On a personal level, my 19 year old is a hero to me. In spite of all the drama that we have had as a family she graduated at the top of her class and is doing her thing at Hampton University. I am SOOOOO proud of her. She inspires me when I cant see my way.
