I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a kind, sensitive, well-educated and fun-loving person who is involved in the natural healing arts. I've sometimes been called intense or funny (although I'm not always sure what they mean by that ...). I value openess and caring. I believe I'm open-minded and considerate and have been told so by many people. I like kids and pets although I don't have any. I enjoy spending time in nature, cooking, learning, some kinds of spirituality, relaxing at home, creative endeavors and occasional dancing.I've very rarely turned down friend requests on here, and that was when their pop-ups were so bad I couldn't even get a glimpse at their profile or they were trying to sell male enhancement products. I have to admit I finally did block some people for too many spam-like comments, though. It just takes too long to delete all those! Some people seem to think my friend's list looks like a porn star convention. Maybe it's because Myspace apparently puts the people with the highest given 'ratings' first in the list, who are mostly models. Hey, models are people too, and some of them are nice people! If I invited you and you don't know who I am then we probably haven't met. I do it as a way of saying 'hi', so please feel free to write me back if you want. Who knows, we might have worthwhile things to share ... . If I invited you and you don't like it for whatever reason just ignore it (but it might be wise to leave it in your mailbox so it won't happen again if you change your name and/or main pic) or adjust your profile to only take invites from people you know personally. This IS myspace, afterall ... .

My Interests

Nature, art, symbolism, ancient wisdom, healing, plant medicine, hiking, mushroom hunting, cooking, gardening, shamanism, ethnobiology (especially ethnobotany and ethnomycology), dark chocolate, green tea, red wine, mystical philosophy, alchemic psychology, taoism, qi gong, tantric buddhism, kindness, consideration, empathy, transcendental parties, caressing ambient sounds, stirring ethnic melodies, pumping house rhythms and knowing when to stop.

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking for online friends and real-life companions who are kind, caring, honest and considerate. People who are intelligent and/or well-educated or at least really like to learn would be great. I'm (obviously) open to making alot of friends while at the same time I'm pretty careful who I get close to. I would ideally like to meet people who value culture, art, nature (inner or outer) and/or some kind of spirituality.

Music:

William Orbit, Philip Glass, Tranquility Bass (ambient), David Visan, Robert Miles, B-Tribe (house), Angelique Kidjo, Aster Awake, Cesaria Evora, (ethnic), Natalie Merchant, The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Sheryl Crow (rock with occasional countrified twangs), Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke (soul) Miles Davis (jazz), Deee-Lite, ELO, Abba (disco, it's fun once in awhile), Lucky Dube, Bunny Wailer (reggae), Joaquin Rodrigo, Carlos Montoya (Spanish classical/flamenco), Joan Baez (folk), Joni Mitchell (sort of older pop, I guess), Halcyon, Deep Forest and Lost at Last (ethno-techno).

Movies:

Baraka, Winged Migration, The Lion's Roar, Message to Little Brother, The Story of the Weeping Camel, Beyond Rangoon, Arabian Nights, To Live and Chac.

Television:

When I watch, my favorite channels are the Independent Film Channel, The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, The Travel Channel and The Food Channel. Sometimes Free Speech TV and Link TV has cool stuff. Favorite shows are Going Tribal, Blind Date, The Simpsons, My Name is Earl, No Reservations, Good Eats, The Colbert Report, The X-Y Factor and Histories Mysteries. OK, I admit sometimes I watch Cops and World's Worst Drivers.

Books:

Romantic/spiritual poetry by Rumi, Sadi, Kabir, The 6th Dalai Lama and Omar Khayam. Philosophical/psychological aphorisms by Nietzsche. The I Ching (sometimes spelled 'Yi Qing'). The Classic Herbal Materia Medica (from a couple of thousand years ago) by the Emperor Shen Nung. Health related books by Andrew Weil (M.D.), Ray Sahelian (M.D.), Ward Dean (M.D.) and Bob Flaws (DOM, CMT, Dipl.Ac.). My favorite 'cookbook' (it's more than a cookbook) is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. 'Wild Fermentations' (on cultured foods) by Sandor Katz. Asian philosophy/spirituality by Thomas Cleary and Tenzin Wangyal, etc., ... .

Heroes:

Varjrasattva/Vajratopa, Padmasambhava/Yeshe Tsogyal, Avalokitesvara/Kuan Yin, Jesus/Mary Magdalene, Gautama Buddha, Medicine Buddha, The Taras, John the Baptist, The Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, St. Francis of Assisi, Shantideva, Julia Butterfly Hill, Noam Chomsky, Rumi, Omar Khayam, Arya Nagarjuna, Galen, Carolus Linnaeus, Thomas Merton, Meister Eckhart, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Moses Maimonides, Chuang Tzu, Su Nu (The 'Simple Girl'), Ge Hong, Li Shi Zhen, Shen Nung (The 'Herbal Emperor'/'Divine Husbandman') and many others ...
