About Me

I play a Hammond B-3 organ with two modified #122 Leslie speakers. I also play piano and sing in The Jimi Vincent Band. We play nothin' but the blues. Not many musicians carry the B-3 around anymore, but this instrument has been my musical vehicle for 34 years. We have just recorded our fourth CD and have been touring blues festivals throughout the midwest. The CD is a 50/50 mix of original music and previously recorded songs. Since we are unsigned, contact me directly if interested in a CD or if you would like to hear a sample of what we do. My major was piano. I traveled around the country in the 70's with a funk/rock band called Crosswinds and had a funk/jazz band called Pressure Cooker in the 80's and early 90's. I love music that has passion, melody and chord changes...other than that, genre doesn't matter very much.

My Interests

Playing and collecting music in a variety of forms; Vintage Keyboard Instruments and amplification; Recording; Working with electronics; Sound reinforcement, Finish carpentry.

I'd like to meet:

Eric Clapton. While most of us struggle to build one career, he has done quite well with a few. Whether it was Blind Faith, Delaney & Bonnie, Cream or his solo material, Eric has made beautiful music and helped others along the way. I also admire the way he has organized shows such as the Crossroads DVD that feature older musicians who are legends, but seemed to have been forgotten by many. Eric's own concerts are a journey through time with wonderful musicians and great songs played with a lot of heart. I admire the way he has used his time, energy and resources to help others defeat their demons. Eric has used his gift of music to touch others in many walks of life.

Music:

Originally trained in classical music, my major was piano while in college; I travelled around the US for 8 years with a funk rock band called Crosswinds. Later on I had a jazz/funk band called Pressure Cooker. I enjoy singing R & B and Blues. My primary instrument is a Hammond B-3 organ with two modified #122 Leslie Speakers, but I also play piano, both live and in the studio. The band I work with, The Jimi Vincent Band, plays primarily blues, but I enjoy other types of music also. I listen to both contemporary and classic jazz and seem to gravitate towards those who play guitar or sax. There have been too many keyboard influences to list, but Keith Emerson, Don Patterson, Herbie Hancock & Joey DeFrancesco seem to find their way to my disc player on a regular basis; I love soul / funk bands such as Tower of Power or Earth Wind and Fire, or Cold Blood; also enjoy playing classic rock music. Bottom line, regardless of genre, if music has heart, chances are I would enjoy it.

Movies:

Prefer movies that rely on great acting and a wonderful script as opposed to those who rely mainly on special effects.

Television:

Favorite show is Studio Jams on the BET Jazz network. It features live studio sessions from song conception to the finished product.

Books:

Love trade magazines concerning recording music...can't get enough information !!! Enjoyed reading the autobiography of Miles Davis, Mohammed Ali, Frank Zappa & David Crosby.

Heroes:

First and foremost my wife who teaches me so much about life and living; Second...my daughter, who works to save chiildren with cancer or at least make their short time on this planet as comfortable as possible.Beyond the family, my heroes are those who strive to help others, not for the glory, but because it is in their soul to do so. This would include those who put their life on the line as they begin each workday.
