I am a self-taught DJ with about 13 years of experience now, and I have played all over the Southern U.S. (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, etc). I am now affiliated with the Endurance Crew , Independent Groove , & Sinthenasia Productions , but I was once with Breakdown Productions, Wingnut Society, and also Bass Propulsion Laboratories. I started out playing Hard Acid Trance & UK Hard House, but now I spin several genres: Drum & Bass, Breaks, & Electro House, when it's requested. I've just recently started spinning Jazzy House, Disco House, & Funk House. I enjoy listening to all types of music though, and I fully support other local DJ's.
I hosted a monthly event at Renaissance Niteclub , which was called HELLAGROOVIN, where some of the best EDM DJ's in the South were showcased. It was the only regular non-genre-specific event in Lafayette.
I have been out of the scene for about a year, but I have been working diligently on some new mixed cd's. I hope to get some bookings in the near future. I've matured quite a bit over the past year, and I'm trying out a couple of new genres. A very dear friend bought some jazzy, funky, groovy house tunes for me, and now I am hooked on this kind of House Music. Needless to say, I began a serious hunt for more tracks in this genre.
Just recently, I played these tracks live, for the first time. The response was unbelievable. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a feeling like this behind the decks. Don't get me wrong, I've had people getting down & screaming during my sets, but I've never really felt the same way the people on the dance floor felt. I always felt each track was missing something, or just didn't quite fit with the rest of the tracks. I've been on that endless search for music that will satisfy me emotionally. Well, thanks to Allie, who bought these tracks for me and who has been bugging me to spin House for God knows how long, and PhatChad for loaning me his CDJ's for the last few months, I've been able to come to what is hopefully a turning point in my 13 year struggle as a DJ. Not that it hasn't been fun, because I wouldn't change a thing.
Anywho, I've decided to make this genre my priority from here on out. Wish me luck. I'm ADHD as hell, and I have trouble focusing on one thing at a time. I will still gladly take bookings for Breaks & DnB. I still love these genres, and I hope to be booked for these types of shows as well. I'm usually very modest about my skills, so don't think I'm tooting my own horn. I'm just really excited about this change of pace. It's been a while since I've been this pumped about music or anything for that matter. Thank you to everyone who gave me props on my new venture. It means so much to me that my peeps enjoyed my set as much as I did. Look to be hearing more from me in the very near future.
Big ups to the peeps who came out to The Dragon's Den for Warmack's Birthday. He was smiling down on us all. Even in death he has inspired me to set aside my self-conscious BULLSHIT, walk through fear of the unknown, and try something new.
