Last, but not least:
My father, who sang classical Indian music in the '40's on All India Radio - may he rest in peace - He shared his love for Omar Khayam's poetry that he recited & translated on the spot. He also tried to teach me to sing ragas, asking me to give up all music except the 5 notes of an evening Bhairavi raga for 3 months, the internalization process...sadly I lasted only 7 days...I couldn't live without my daily dose of Brazilian music.
Sounds Like: We begin & learn by immitating, but if we are true to our heart then our expression of the music can only end up reflecting what is uniquely the essence of ourselves.
