Even though the Munich based wandergalerie (moving gallery) has only existed for two years it already gained considerable recognition in the gallery circuit and the international art world. The quality of the artworks the gallery shows is unquestionably one of the reasons for that, but most of all it has to do with the distinctive way the gallery operates. The gallery has one fixed showroom, but also presents exhibition at different locations in the city. This circumstance makes the gallery flexible and mobile. The wandergalerie is a kind of nomadic gallery that sets up the exhibitions of their artists in diverse range of places, according to their specific needs, indoors and outdoors, in the urban area of the city. This has become the trademark of the gallery and has fostered a level of creativity and innovation unseen in most parts of the gallery system.
The gallery works with young upcoming international artists. The Munich gallery scene did not really offer possibilities for younger artists so far. This spirit inspired the wandergalerie not just to open a gallery space but to connect to the tradition of organized shows. The artists are the center of the gallery and not a fancy space. Over the last two years the gallery has set up different projects in a variety of places. As a result the interest in the dynamic art scene of Munich began to grow more an more.
