About Me

JACK STARR BAND BIOGRAPHY
Earth shattering, pillar crumbing, heavy explosive sounds, these are not what you might expect in a Blues guitarist. However, Jack Starr and his band are not the norm. Starr who hails from the rough world of '80's New York rock now calls the Space Coast home. A real long way from sharing the stage with Metallica and Slayer in both albums and festivals.

When asked if Jack finds this strange that he plays the Blues? He replies with a smile "Black Sabbath was originally called the Earth Blues Band and Eric Clapton gained success playing in a heavy metal trio called Cream and let's not forget Jimi Hendrix who played as heavy as it gets, but at the same time played the Blues better than anyone."
The Jack Starr Band plays in a style, which Jack describes as "Hard Blues", a phrase he coined. If there is a “Hard Rock” why can’t there be a “Hard Blues?” There aren't many bands that take this approach to the Blues, but a few that are gaining momentum are; Walter Trout, Joe Bonomassa and Poppa Chubby. The godfather of this genre is Stevie Ray Vaughn who single handedly revitalized the Blues in the last century.
The band was founded in 2006 drawing its members from Palm Bay & Melbourne, after a lengthy audition process by Jack, in order to obtain the best possible musicians for this band. They include, Randy Weber on bass who when not selling luxury automobiles in Melbourne changes into his alter ego of a "hard driving groove meister and god of bass", ..boards we have Sam DeBella who brings to the band his vast knowledge of classical music and jazz. Also, Sam owns a landscaping business. On drums Joe Miller who's steady hand and impeccable timing bring meaning to the phrase "groove or die." Joe heads his own construction company in the Melbourne Beach area.
Together, the Jack Starr band fits nicely in this new style. Come see for yourself and be prepared to experience something different and yet quite bluesy.
