Influences: Jimmy Rogers, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Ferlin Husky, Hank Snow, Hank Thompson, & Little Jimmy Dickens; mucho-mucho thanks to Faron Young & Bill Haley & Johnny Cash, and that night sitting on a hotel room floor playing old gospel songs with a disheveled kid with the strange name of Elvis. Then the influences of Woodie Guthrie, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry & Little Richard. Oh yeah, and Mario Lanza, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee and Judy Garland (strange, but true). Oh yeah 2 ... Liberace -- they dragged me kicking and screaming to meet him, but what a lesson in showmanship. And, most importantly, a bunch of local musicians who played the local country bars when I was a widdle kid -- and my mom used to sneak me in the back doors so I could watch them play. And my life-long friend Chubby Checker who encouraged me back when I was a teenager that I might be successful in the music business. There's more, but this is too long already.
