Sosue

born in cologne germany in 1978, sosue aka tanja suebsman grew up watching her parents listening to variety of musical styles, trading jazz records, repairing and selling high fidelity audio-technology. being that her roots stem from early childhood exposure to the enthusiasm of music and technics, it was only self-evident for her to let this become an important part of her life. sosue caught the soulmusic bug in the age of seventeen. after six years of listening to hard bop, funk, souljazz and the rhythm & blues, gospel and soul of atlantic, stax and motwon records, sosue started spinning jazz records at some cocktailbars. the following years she played scores of gigs at different bars and clubs, mostly as a part of the dj-collective of the berlin based label hamton recordings. since emerging on the club scene, her musical category extended to seventies soul, deep funk, boogie, disco and old school hiphop. 1999 sosue studied photoengineering and mediatechnology at the university of applied science and made a media certificate at the school of audio engeneering in cologne. after leaving university in 2004, sosue decided to focus mainly on her musical career. she started producing beats, remixing and re-editing music to enrich her dj-sets and spends time learning to play the drums. meanwhile sosue's musical interests embed contemporary music as well. her dj-sets combine many different forms of music preferably far removed from mainstream. conscious hiphop, electrofunk, contemporary jazz, soul and dancemusic are on equal terms with all that vintage stuff she has been socialized with. currently sosue plays a monthly deep house dj-set for the gogo music radioshow, which is broadcasted on 16 radio stations worldwide. she produces music in collaboration with differnt musicians and mc's. recently she teamed up with phil kullmann - percussionist, producer and founder of the dancemusic project raw artistic soul - and founded an independant record label called raw artistic records.
