I'm far too busy....being delicious.

About Me

Ok, About Me section, time for me to flush out the old shit and start anew...
I'm kinda, sorta, really really into music. Yeah. I play guitar. It's what I do. I have a band, Farther From Resolution, with three other guys who are amazing musicians and awesome people. Check us out if you want.
I like rainy, shitty days. Or snow. I don't like summer all that much, and I hate sunshine. I frequently stay up until 4 am because I prefer night to daylight. It's not because I'm some dark, brooding, wannabe goth douche. And I don't think it's because I'm depressed or anything like that. I like puppies and chocolate ice cream and happy shit like that too. So don't make a big thing about it. I used to live in a basement apartment, and I was very happy about it because I didn't have any windows.
I like to say "fuck" a lot. I swear a lot in general, but I have a special affinity for the word "fuck." I think this is because I grew up in New Jersey.
I have a lot of guitars. I have a use for all of them. I don't know if I "collect" guitars because collecting seems to involve putting them in a case and never playing them. To me, this would take all of the fun out of owning the guitar in the first place. I also do a lot of repairs and modifications on my stuff, as well as other people's guitars. I am seriously into guitars and amps and gear in general. I'm probably what people would consider a total dork when it comes to guitars, but I feel like you need to know everything about the instrument in order to gain a better musical and spiritual understanding of it.
I can't stand pretentious people. It's ok to not be happy with yourself, but don't go putting up a false front or making shit up to hide yourself. You're never going to be happy with yourself otherwise
I can't stand Jesus-freaks who feel the need to try to impose their lifestyle on others. I'm happy if you've found something that you believe in, but I don't need to be "saved," I don't need to hear preachy shit, and I believe that if you lead a generally good life, good things will be in store for you. I have my own beliefs, and I'm pretty happy with them.
As a general rule, I don't boo muscians on stage, no matter how terrible I think they are. I always remember a couple of important things:
1. It takes a lot of balls to get onstage. Anyone who believes strongly enough in their music to get on a stage and play it for the world deserves enough respect that you shouldn't boo them. You don't have to support them, but tearing them down doesn't do anything good for them or for you.
2. Everyone's taste is subjective. If you think about it, nothing out there "sucks." You might not like a band, but that doesn't mean that everyone else agrees with you. When people ask me who the "best" guitarist in the world is, I tell them I don't know. What constitutes "best?" Music is an art form, not a competition to be judged. You can like it or hate it, but remember, it's your personal opinion. Not fact.
Wow, what a serious fucking "About Me" section I've written. This is totally unlike me. People are gonna think I'm kinda normal or something....

My Interests

Music! Playing guitar, fixing guitars, learning about guitars, buying guitars, boxing, hockey, baseball, computers, etc. I'm into a lot of shit, so I'm not gonna get into it all right here. If you wanna know something, just ask.

I'd like to meet:

Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour, Steve Vai, Roy Jones, Jr., Mark Messier, Cynic....there are a shitload of people I'd like to meet and probably never will. Life sucks! At least I got to meet Page Hamilton from Helmet a few months ago at Warped Tour. Holla!

Music:

I have such a big fucking list of stuff I listen to. I can't list it all here. My faves include (in no particular order) Pink Floyd, Protest the Hero, 36 Crazyfists, Led Zeppelin, Helmet, The Used, Deftones, old Metallica, the Crue, Machine Head, Chevelle, dredg, Strata, Killswitch, Nirvana, Atreyu, Bullet, Muse, Stanley Jordan...I'll listen to anything, old or new as long as it's not country or Christian.

Movies:

The Stoned Age, Jay and Silent Bob, Jackass, Baseketball, The Matrix, The Wall, the original Star Wars movies, Super Troopers, Superbad, Clerks, Carlito's Way, Full Metal Jacket, Anchorman, South Park, Memento, Gladiator...lots more I'm probably forgetting.

Television:

TV rots your brain, kiddies!!! Lost, the Simpsons, Sesame Street, ATHF...that's about it.

Books:

Y'know, I read a LOT, but my reading material is nothing crazy. So I'm not going to put up a list of inspirational shit like "The Seventeen People You Meet In Wal-Mart" or whatever the fuck it's called. I didn't read it. I read crap. Really well written, completely far-fetched, mindless fiction by Dan Brown and David Baldacci and sometimes even Dean Koontz or Steven King. Fuck it, I read for entertainment, not the betterment of myself.

Heroes:

It's been a while since I really called someone a hero. Jimmy Page used to be my hero, but then I realized that he's an over-the-hill drug addict who happens to play guitar really well. So he (and a lot of my other musical "heroes") are really more "influences" than "heroes." I look up to anyone out there with enough creativity and balls to do something original. There's fewer and fewer people like that out there because creativity and originality pretty much guarantees that you won't be successful these days.
