About Me

GOLFERS FOR TOM PADBERGIf you're a San Clemente Golfer, you probably don't have to be told how poorly local golfers have been treated over the past several years by our City Council and by City Management:* since 1997, the city has taken $425,000.00 per year of golf course revenues* the proposed parking lot expansion requiring realignment of the 9th and 18th greens and the #7 tee* other proposed golf course changes which will not improve playability* the expenditure of $3,000,000.00 to tear down the existing clubhouse and build a new one* greens fee increases to cover the above "improvements"The net effect of all these items is an increased cost to every golfer of at least $4 per round of golf. One of the most consistent voices speaking for the golfers when the city was considering these actions has been Tom Padberg. But Tom's activism is not limited to golf issues. He organized and led the La Pata initiative drive; opposed the Toll Road and Beach Trail, supported strong code enforcement, supported a citizen effort to keep a skateboard park out of residential neighborhoods, and he has supported a citizen's effort (SCCRD) to improve the Marblehead Coastal development plan. We think Tom's record of involvement can't be matched by any other Council candidate.Several of the other candidates are being supported by the San Clemente Political Action Committee which, in the 1998 election, collected over $38,000 from sources OUTSIDE SAN CLEMENTE. Two of their candidates, Diehl & Ritschel, were elected. You know how poorly you, as a golfer, have been treated by these two Council members. If you agree with us that San Clemente residents need better respresentation on the City Council, we ask that you give Tom your vote and financial support. With the amount of money his opponents will receive, Tom needs all the help we can give him.

To live in the Valley is to breathe and speak in the spirit of Valley boosterism. Think about the phrase "a Yoga instructor from Studio City." The Valley could be the next great bohemian community i...
