WAKEUP Wichita is a social group of community supporters in the Wichita, Kansas area made up of artists, musicians, poets, venues and small business owners.
Wichita is in a state of emergency at the moment, with local support dwindling in every single creative and economic area. People whine that there's nothing to do and are bored, yet completely miss events because of the lack of promotion and drive.
This is the purpose of WAKEUP Wichita. It is a directory of all creative outlets and local businesses in town. It is a completely free service, and allows users to promote, even if they are hurting in the bank. If you hear of a band but can't find their website, it will be there! If you hear of a great place to eat but can't find the building, the address will be there! This is a community coming together to band together.
WAKEUP stands for "Wanted: Alternatives, Knowledge, and Events - an Urgent Project."
