Primmitiv is a high plains drifter hailing from the land of milk and honey, and as they say “It ain’t where you’re from, it’s where you’re at.” When she began DJing in May of 1999, her musical tastes were marking the beginning of an evolution with her interest in music. She enjoyed the powerful, aggressive, overpowering noise of industrial rock, heavy metal and electronica. However, as the years have progressed, as well have her skills and tastes, the relationship between herself and her turntables has proven to be one of symbiosis and enlightenment.
One can hear anything from a tasty blend of scratches layered over a delightful mix of downtempo and jazzy hip hop, to ambient and underground classics, to power pop flashbacks from the eighties, lightly sprinkled with motown. She is an accomplished DJ of many feats uncommon to DJs these days, and is not afraid to branch out from the commonplace club scene. She has completed two LIVE SCORES to sold out audiences, one being the GiRL FeST V-Day 2004 World Wide Campaign to a sold out Hawaii Theatre of over 1400 people, the other Rachel Kann's "Outcaste" in GirlFest2006. She is currently working on her latest brainchild, which is a combination of a musical/varietyshow/local art showcase to be performed in the summer of 2008. She lists anything she has ever heard as an influence on her sound, but draws on a divine female energy for her fierce, cutting style and hilarious vocal samples. Is she a feminist? Hell yeah!!!
