The duo of Michael Jon Fink (electric guitar) and Marcelo Aguirre (drums, gongs, voice) is touring Europe in 2007.
Rethinking the dialectics of improvised music, they shake off the accepted conventions of "music composed in real time", coming up with an open form quite their own. Through their textural explorations and highly nuanced playing they let the music breathe and go wherever it finds its shape- from delicate miniatures to intense walls of sound , revealing a taste for lush, dark atmospheres.
The duo premiered in 2005 with a tour that took them to Paris (Instants Chavirés), Lier (Voorkamer), Brussels (a private concert hosted by Charlemagne Palestine and Aude Stoclet) and Berlin (Stralau 68). In 2006 the duo headed to California, playing Berkeley (Maybeck House as a double bill with Ch. Palestine); and Valencia (at CalArts as a trio with Mark Trayle of Hub fame). A studio recording they produced in Berlin 2005 will be released soon.
