About Me

My family is originally from Trinidad, but I have been blessed with the experience of living all over the world (Scotland, England, Egypt, Singapore, and now NY, where I have been for almost 6 years already!) Travel is a continuous passion and source of growth and education for me, and I have a goal of visiting at least 100 countries before I die (I'm at 17 so far! - TONS more to go!!) Music, writing and creativity in general are the things that I crave the most. I am happiest when I am being creative, and feel stagnant when I am not. I have been persistently working on my own music for quite some time now, and have gone through many changes and growth spurts in the process. I am excited to see where it will all take me, and look forward to the constant evolution that reminds me of just how exciting and important the journey is at all times! I of course have many goals, and know that I will be exactly where I am supposed to be if I continue walking on my personal path, and remembering what its all about. My artist page in my Top Friends - Tennille Amor - will give you more info on my music if you're interested... Also, check out the 'What Did You Do Today' profile from my Top Friends and add it as a friend. It is a non-profit organization that i started with my best friend/business partner (Alexi), raising awareness and money for a new project each year. This year we are focusing our energies on Tanzania, and will be heading back out there in August to drill a clean water well and send kids to secondary school with a scholarship program that we will be providing (thanks to your help!!) Again though, you can find out more on E.P.I.C.'s page in my Top Friends, or you can go to our official website...www.epicthemovement.org! I could keep writing for hours, but I know that most people don't even bother reading these anyway... For those of you who do though, if you're interested, subscribe to my blog, because I def have a thoughts from time to time that I love sharing with you guys! GREAT THINGS ARE AROUND THE CORNER, so let's make sure we're awake enough to be a part of the change :)

My Interests

Trying to make a positive difference (however big or small), music, movies, meeting good people (cuz they're hard to find), getting a little closer to answering some of life's "bigger questions", traveling, water skiing, jet skiing, scuba diving, knee boarding (pretty much everything in water, and I really wanna learn to surf!, spending what limited time i have with my true friends, cuz they're some of the best, eating good food, and remembering to FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS!!! - the future begins today! I'd like to meet:

Interesting people who aren't afraid to dig a little deeper and think outside the box. I have recently realized how important time is, and how little of it we have, so am trying to cut out as much of the unnecessary as I can. If you get in touch with me, please make it worth both of our time. I believe that we are here to grow, and to encourage one another in continued evolution, so am interested in people who want to be a part of that - spiritually, intellectually, and creatively. Through a commitment to the process we come closer to the truth, and on my continuing journey, i intend to get as close to it as i possibly can.

Music:

Anything that speaks to me (in whatever way it does), whether its through the lyrical content, or just a sick beat that makes me wanna get up and move. Good music is hard to come by these days, and i'm always looking to discover something new, so if u have any suggestions, lemme know... Recently i have been listening to a lot of Damian Marley, so of course I am a huge fan of Bob as well. Michael Franti, Ben Harper (and not just 'Burn One Down'!), Imogen Heap, Mozella, Terra Naomi, Stevie Wonder, K'Naan, I went to an Alicia Keys show a while back for a benefit raising money for 'Keep a Child Alive' (a non-profit organization working to battle the AIDS epedemic in Africa) and was over-whelmed with emotion. Inspiring stuff :) I have a lot of love for anyone trying to make a difference in this world. I'm a big fan of a lot of unsigned artists right now, and can't wait for them to be a part of the "new movement" that is MUCH NEEDED in the industry today. Check out some of them if u can... Dewkie (www.dewkie.com - or check their page out from my Top 8), Tina Mathieu (www.myspace.com/tinamathieumusic), Jzabehl (newly signed and soon to be released!! GET IT ROXINY!!), The Jon Frederick Band (http://www.jonfrederikband.com/homehi.asp), Webbafied (check him out on myspace), Evan Lagace (There's still a future in music for you my friend!) :) and i'll keep adding whenever something inspires me enough to. Old favs...2Pac, Black Eyed Peas (but i'm kinda mad at that 'Humps' song...and if you haven't already seen it, you HAVE to check out Alanis Morisette's version of it on youtube. HILARIOUS!!), Of course John Legend (proud of the boyo!!), eminem (lyrical genius), lauren hill (so conscious), Thicke, missy elliott (another genius), i ONLY JUST discovered madonna's old school stuff and i have to say that i was very impressed! i appreciate her honesty. janet jackson, michael jackson, marvin gaye... I could go on forever, but will continue to update from time to time...

Movies:

Again, anything that speaks to me in some way... if you can get a hold of it, YOU HAVE TO WATCH 'A WAKING LIFE' (it will speak to you on so many levels if u are open to it). - Thanks Evan ;) some of my other favorites are... Newer Stuff: Babel, Blood Diamond, Hotel Rwanda, Farenheit 9/11, The Matrix, Garden State, Vanilla Sky, The Last Samurai, Gia... Old-school: Neverending Story :) - Been dying to watch that again for the longest time! Goonies, Willow (please tell me if u've seen that! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!), Space Balls, Beaches, Dirty Dancing, Clueless, Three Ninjas! hahaha!! ("Slurpy?" "Radical" "Slurpy?" "Duuude"!!!!) - did u find it???

Television:

Don't really watch TV anymore, apart from LOST, and the occasional Family Guy episode (love how random it is!). I sometimes catch Friends re-runs, and Six Feet Under used to be one of my FAVORITE shows (if u never got into it, GET THE DVDs!). I think Ellen DeGeneres is such a natural comedian, so watch her show whenever i can, and sometimes late night mtv and vh1 when they actually PLAY music :)

Books:

Blue Like Jazz, Searching For God Knows What, The philosophies of Kant, J.S. Mill, Aristotle and more... The Celestine Prophesies, One Day My Soul Just Opened Up, The Artist's Way, The Alchemist, What Liberal Media?, The Inner Life, The Bible (just started it... a little overwhelming, but one of these days I'll get thru it!), Spanish 101 (will I EVER become a citizen???!!!) lol! (school reading is taking up a lot of my time right now...)

Heroes:

People who make a difference... No real heroes, just people who I respect for what they've done or are trying to do.... Jesus, Ghandi, Buddah, Nelson Mandella, Bob Marley, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Carl Jung, Immanuel Kant, Mother Theresa, Princess Diana, Tupac, Angelina Jolie, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, Alicia Keys, Bethany Hamilton, Jacqueline Saburido (FIND OUT WHO SHE IS!!!) (quite a mix!) but really anyone who is trying to make a difference in whatever way they can. Call me idealistic, but I believe in making things happen if you try hard enough, no matter what it is....
