About Me

My friends and peers call me the Hip hop historian, why historian , because I've been following the art since the late 80s. I'm mad about the artform, fell in love with rap back in 1988 when BDP was killing it with a diss directed to MC Shan, back then some of the hotest mc's were the likes of Schooly D, Prince Rakim, Jungle Brothers and a whole lot of unforgoten heroes. I've never been an MC nor a B-boy, I sometime mix on my decks and reminice on old school music dished out by people like Jeru the Damaja, KRS One, Mobb Deep (Shook ones), LL Cool J, Black Sheep, Lords of the Underground, Nwa, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Prophets of the City, Amu,Shorty Skillz, Gundi, Shimane, Loco, Ramesh, Iko, Scarface, Ghetto Boyz, Bushwick Bill, Teminator X, Public Enemy, Sister Souljah, Uncle Luke, The Fresh Prince and a whole lot more.As South Africans, we've come a long way from the first hip hop show aired on South African radio hosted by Sammy Sabiti on Sunday afternoons on Radio Bop to having to having a show dedicated to battle artists hosted Zak Dakile on VOS. Now every radio has a show or DJ that focuses on Hip Hop. Now Catz are being signed by Major Labels others can even afford to go independent and still make a mark.I personally belive that the term underground hip hop should be scrapped away because I beleive that as long as you are good at what you do, you also need to be compansated (Get Paid) accordingly. Look at the Likes of Amu,Young Nation, Tumi, Prokid, Zubs, Proverb, Flabba, Skwatta Kamp, Tuks, HHP, Wikid making money out of this artform.Lets all support our music in order for it to grow. LETS ALL GET PAID. One Love
