About Me

ZuluBoy left his hometown of Durban after finishing matric in 2001 for Johannesburg to study and start his musical training at Dorkay house. He later returned home and got involved with Kwazulu-Natal's Hip Hop movements, such as Inqaba Hip Hop sessions and Ukhozi FM [South Africa’s biggest radio station] for over a year.

From the responses on Ukhozi FM he landed a performance at 20th Reed Dance Annivessary and Flux Festival. ZuluBoyhas shared the stage with SA’s top hip-hop artists like Proverb, Zubs, Skwatta Kamp, Amu, Selwyn and Pitch Black Afro.
The artist is based in Johannesburg and after a blazing performance at the 1st African Hip Hop Summit Concert, ZuluBoy was invited to Vancouver [Canada] for the 2nd Global Hip­Hop Summit and Concert in June of 2006. ZuluBoy has also performed in the Netherlands for B Connected and Music MayDay, and is undertaking plans for his first tour of the USA.
His studio debut album was created working with world class producers under the record label Native Rhythms.

Zuluboy has performed and recorded with numerous artists including Tumi and the Volume, Jah Seed (Bongo Maffin), PRO kid, Young Nations, Inkosi uMdletshe (the official Zulu King’s praise singer), DJ Awadi, Emmanuel Jal, Guru(Gangstarr), Jay-Z, and more.

He has done workshops in Europe with participants ranging from 15 to 25 years old on ethnic music and rap, beat making and compositions using ‘equal chances' as a theme.

Zuluboy performs with a 5-piece band and also with his DJ, D Boy (a hip-hop DJ who host the Graveside hip-hop session in Dobsonville).

Check out the contributions of Inyosi Umdlethshe on the track "Hail to the Kings". Inyosi Umdlethshe is the official praise singer for King Goodwill Zwelithini. On this track he makes an appropriate appearance to shout out the tribe’s legacy of warrior kings.

Zuluboy is also influenced by the who's who of South African Rap/Hip-Hop scholars - or more easily referred to as producers - including Beatmaker, Dome, Draztik, Faceless, Measurement, Omen, Amu, and DJ Moves from Vancouver, Canada
