Born in Brazil, a country of dance and rhythm, Andrea began her career in 1988 as a professional ballerina. Later she also became a Latin Ballroom and Brazilian dancer. As part of 'ARTEDANÇA' Professional Dance Company, Andrea performed classical, modern and contemporary ballet pieces from many different and demanding choreographers.In 1993, Andrea left her native country and moved to Atlanta, and quickly became immersed in the local dance community, participating at the Festival of Culture, the 1996 ParaOlympics Closing Ceremony Parade (Brazilian troupe), and various corporate events, performing different styles of dance and her own choreographies.She was a member of The Georgia Ballet Company for six years and a member of the Bacchus Production Dance Company.She is also the director/choreographer of the group 'DANCE BRASIL' (which performs dances from Brazil, like SAMBA).Andrea began belly dancing in 1998 and is self-taught. Known as 'Azima', she joined the troupe 'JEWELS OF THE CASBAH' and made her first public appearance in October, 1998. A month later, she performed at the Imperial Fez for Ted Turner's birthday party. Since that time, she has been performing Oriental dance at restaurants, conventions, galas, fund raisers, theaters, and parties (including bar mitzvahs, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, bachelorette, and children's parties) all over the Southeast United States and Brazil.She has appeared on on an episode of the Jeff Foxworthy TV show 'Blue Collar Comedy', a video special for Atlanta's Piedmont Park, and at the 75th anniversary of the Fox Theatre.
She performed for the world renowned singer Cheb Khaled on a special night at Imperial Fez and for Shadmehr Aghili's concert at the Atlanta Symphony Hall.
