-Melodic Media is a cutting edge group of musicians, producers, composers & songwriters dedicated to creating the best rhythm, harmony and melody music has to offer. The organization was founded in the summer of 1997 by drummer/producer/composer & mix engineer, Khalil Hebert. Aka; "Snare One or Boogie". Khalil was first introduced to music through his father, Ronald Hebert. A casual flutist who would spend evenings after work playing along to old records of the greatest artist in jazz, funk, soul and r&b. Late night jam sessions would be held in the Hebert home at least twice a week. With Ronald on flute, Khalil and his younger brother Emil on congas, bongos or anything else they could find to play a rhythm on. Eventually, Khalil would begin playing drum set and later get interested in producing, composing and mix engineering.
When Khalil graduated high school in 1995 their was no question as to what he would eventually pursue as a career. One year later he began studying music business and recording engineering at UCLA extension, and received an associates degree in music business two years later. He then worked several part time jobs while studying music at Los Angeles City College, and freelancing as a professional drummer for several local bands and artist in the area.
Finally, at 24 years of age Khalil scored his first deal. With a well known publishing entity called AMRA, in association with Sinful Music. The executives at AMRA seemed to be very interested in the mixture of musical styles this young musician had to offer. Everything from his jazz fusion style of drumming, to the pulsating electronic rhythms he produces in his Silver Lake laboratory. Just prior to signing with AMRA, Khalil had formed a live hip hop band, Big City Riot. During the two year contract with AMRA, Khalil recorded an album with his Big City Riot band, in the studio of co producer/guitarist Anthony Larry. The recording of this project was a great success, with two cuts from the album being licensed to the film sound track for "MacArthur Park" (a film by: Billy Wirth), staring "Thomas Jefferson Byrd.
