About Me

URBAN JAZZ COLLECTIVE is: Khalil Hebert (Drums & Percussion), Tim Mayo (Alto and Baritone saxophones) and Byron Hill (Piano and Keyboards).
UJC is a product of the west coast modern jazz scene, which includes: be-bop, blues, straight ahead, fusion, modal & experimental jazz. Altough drum n bass, hip hop, funk, Latin & world influences can be heard as well. URBAN JAZZ COLLECTIVE performs both originals & standards, paying homage to the greats, while pushing the envelope with complex melodic lines and syncopated polyrhythms.
The current goal for UJC is to create a fresh musical experience for those who appreciate modern jazz. Several of the original compositions have been written in odd meter time signatures & modal keys in a creative effort to challenge the listener. Khalil, Tim and Byron all have very impressive resumes, which include: national & international tours, album credits (on both major & independent labels), as well as film & television credits.
