MAYOURI

Meeting of musics with african essence from American and Caribbean French-speaking, English-speaking, Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking, the music of MAYOURI, merges jazz harmonies and traditional rhythms of French Guyana, West-Indies and Africa (grajé vals, kassé kô, camougué, beguine, calypso, salsa, samba, bossa, bikutsi …). Created in January 2008, the group is composed of eclectic musicians whose "collective work" (meaning of the french guyanese word "Mayouri") led to the emergence of "Ethno-Jazz-Créole" concept.
Rencontre des musiques d’essences africaines issues des Amériques et Caraïbes francophones, anglophones, hispanophones et lusophones, la musique du groupe MAYOURI, fusionne les harmonies du jazz et les rythmes traditionnels de la Guyane Française, des Antilles et d’Afrique (grajé vals, kasé kô, camougué, beguine, calypso, salsa, samba, bossa, bikutsi …). Le groupe créé en janvier 2008, se compose de musiciens éclectiques, dont le "travail collectif" (signification du mot guyanais Mayouri) a permis l’émergence du concept "Ethno-Jazz-Créole".
