Ansiktet, Le Visage, The Face, Das Gesicht, Il Volto, El Rostro, Twarz...
Le Visage is a polish project, started in 2006. The name comes from one of Ingmar Bergman 's movies - "Ansikte" (which means "le visage" in French, and "face" in english).
At the moment, Le Visage is a one-man project. Radek Krzyzanowski aka John McEnroe (that's me ;) ), composer and producer of Le Visage music, plays on a few instruments (guitar, bass guitar, keys, percussions, etc) and takes a command of all stages of a project, from songwriting to final mix. However, in the future i hope to collaborate with other musicians.
My music can be described as an electronic cocktail of IDM and downtempo crossover, with a little addition of click'n'cuts and ambient thrown in as well. Recently, live instruments such as guitar, bass and piano have become more prominent in my music as well.
My main live-act tool is a laptop and Ableton Live with a bunch of software, five midi controllers and guitar.
Le Visage has only one official release - "Persona" EP for Chill-label (2006). I took part also in two “various artists†projects for the same label ( chill.01 and "Solarystyka" , a tribute album to Stanislaw Lem) and one for Warsaw Electronic Festival (“Laptops make history - for future compilation†cd).
Le Visage has also played a few gigs, the most important of which were on the 4th anniversary of Nowamuzyka.pl, as a support for Chris Clark, broadcast for Future Sessions on BIS Polskie Radio and live act on Warsaw Electronic Festival 2007 .
This year, I'm concentrated on two main things: improving my live acts, making them as good as possible, and preparing stuff for first album. In summer and autumn 2006 i composed 11 pieces for „Bergmanorama†(a tribute album to Ingmar Bergman, my favourite director), and planned to release it as a debut, but i quited, due to using a lot of dialogues from Bergman's movies (problems with copyright). However, it's possible to listen to those tracks on this profile.
I also engage myself in some other musical activities - productional and educational. On february 2007, i had an occasion to produce debut album of Tres B - dutch indie pop-rock band. Recording session took place in Maastricht, in band's homestudio. The result of two weeks of recording (in Maastricht) and one month of mixing and mastering (in my homestudio in Poland) is „Scylla and Charybdisâ€, which was released in august.
In july 2007, i had a honour of organizing Ableton Live workshop for begginers and advance users, during Reporter Nowa Muzyka Festival.
Beside that, I'm a member of artistic and desgin group MRoow, as a sound producer and Adobe Flash programmer. In spare time i write articles, reviews and reports for net magazines - Nowamuzyka.pl and Liveuser.pl
