About Me

Wallo' Recca is a collaboration of three unique artists: Ceri Jones, Brenda Geil and Mark Ellis. THe group's sound was once described as "Lord of the Rings meets Beck", an appropriate analogy of their intent to amalgamate traditional Welsh, folk, Celtic, world-beat and electronic music. The group was founded on the concept of "Rhyddid" (RUH-theed), a Welsh word meaning 'freedom'. It aptly describes the hopes and aspirations of the six Celtic nations (Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany, Isle of Man, Cornwall) and their continuing struggle for home rule and cultural survival. In Wales, there is great optimism for the future of the Welsh culture and nation, having survived cultural genocide.THE MEMBERS!Ceri 'the Dojo Kid' Jones plays bass, sings in Welsh and English.Brenda Geil plays the electronic bagpipes, whistles and various electronic toys.Mark Ellis plays keyboards and is responsible for all the nasty beats.
