The Electric Monks

Forever and ever. Skamen.

About Me

When Paul Sating, Q.C. and Pat Strumm, M.D. decided to write music together they realised that they needed something potent and forceful to convey their unbridled message of nuts and bolts. They needed a nine (sometimes 11) piece ska band. From the very first embryonic rumblings, the Electric Monks were destined to be controversial. Banned by the Pope, embraced by DaVinci's Inquest, and reviled by anyone with a common sense of decency, the Electric Monks released two cassettes and three T-shirt designs in a variety of colours. Over the years there have been many lineups but none as devastating as Paul Sating (vocals), Pat Strumm (guitar, vocals), Screaming Scatz Selmer (saxophone, vocals), Sweaty Chris Bundy (keys), Stig (bass), Ronny Tom Tom (drums), Olivia John Newton (percussion), Jimmy Jazz (baritone saxophone) and Max Shithead III (tromboneaphone). Over time others would join and leave the fray (Larry Lunchpail, Reverend Stool The Episcopal Tool, Russel Russel The One Eyed Muscle . . . yay Russ! . . ., Billy Backbone, Jerry Skids the list goes on and on. But the music remained relentless, unabashed, awash in pre-coital post political-correctness indecency. Humorous, outrageous, rarely musical, but always powerful beyond measure The Electric Monks invented an ouevre, defied a curfew, and landed fewer gigs than they had members. This site is dedicated to Stig. RIP.
