OOKY RULES!

About Me

Okay. Here goes: I write horror novels that I set in my fictitious town of Owl's Nest, Delaware. I've been writing since I was 11 years old, switched to horror after reading Edgar Allan Poe in 8th grade. Then read Stephen King when I was 17 and it was all over but the shouting. I've written 3 novels, 6 screenplays, two collections of short stories and two novellas. (And counting, I'm working on my 4th and 5th novels, 3rd collection of short stories and 7th screenplay.)I'm 49, I have two sons, Bill (married to Stephanie), and Joe, (married to Caitlin and father of Rosebella and Joey Jr due to arrive in September). Yes, that means I'm a grandmother, (Ooky Nana to be specific). In addtion to writing, I love to read, love music, love movies, love walking on the beach, love cooking and sharing meals and tons of laughs with family and friends, love road trips, which is a good thing since I live in Alpharetta Georgia and my family is in northern Delaware. I also like traveling, though I haven't done too much recently as my income is pretty much just above the freaking poverty line.Myspace Graphics

My Interests

Writing, Rosebella, Music, Reading, Movies, a few specific TV shows though sometimes the commercials are more intelligent than the shows. Cooking, some crafts and needlework. And of course my family and friends.

I'd like to meet:

Okay, if a time machine was available, I would like to meet Edgar Allan Poe. And Jesus Christ. (Now there's a comparison!!) Not because I'm a religious freak, but because I find history interesting, and I'd like to see where things began, and see for myself. In the present, I'd like to chat with Stephen King. And I think Whoopi Goldberg would be the coolest fucking friend ever. Just gotta love her. Osama Bin Laden just to ask him "WHAT THE FUCK????"And if I could actually get in that time machine, I would like to have some time with my father to just let him know I love him in spite of everything.

Music:

I love the Cruxshadows, as musicians and friends, I like Metallica, Mozart, Ego Likeness, Bellamorte (Andy is a hoot!), Soundtracks, Love Spit Love, Billy Joel, The Last Dance, Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Slayer, Type O Negative, Bach fugue, The Beatles, Angel Spit, Angels on Acid, MOTOWN, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Steel Drum music, Toby Keith, African drum melodies, Native American Flute, Disturbed, Blake Shelton, Big Band, And did I mention The Cruxshadows??? And check out the music of all my new My Space friends. I've added many. This space really isn't big enough for all the music I love, which is pretty much everything.

Movies:

I like pretty much everything from action, to horror, to romantic comedies depending on my mood. I particularly like: Somewhere In Time, Excalibur, True Lies, The Prestige, The Notebook, Deathtrap, American President, Ever After, Pretty Woman, Carrie, Salem's Lot, Vampires, Backstreet, Immitation of Life, all the Lethal Weapons, Star Trek Generations, Little Women (1990's remake), Cutting Edge, and last but certainly not least, Mary Poppins.

Television:

HOUSE!!!!! (Love that sarcasm and no bullshit attitude) Shark, (gotta love James Woods), Charmed, MASH, Star Trek (Original), Star Trek the Next Generation, Dick Van Dyke, Will & Grace, The Closer, Golden Girls (love Sophia), Crossing Jordan, The Urban Peasant (which isn't on anymore, boo, hiss), Murphy Brown, Mad About You

Books:

Anything Stephen King, Caitlin Kiernan, Poppy Z. Brite, Neil Gaiman (he's brilliant), Patricia Cornwell, Tammy Hoag, Karin Slaughter, Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Thomas Harris,Ann Rice, Robert Ludlam, C.S. Lewis, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, to name just a few. I like reading non fiction and am interested in Native American spiritualism and culture, comparitive religion (I've been reading up on Voudoo, Wicca, the Bible, mythology, Paganism, Muslim, Islam, Hindu), health and nutrition, and anything that will help me improve and promote my writing.

Heroes:

My dear friend Sir Phil who saved my sanity when I was in despair. Winnie and Linda who literally pulled me in off the street and gave me a home not just in their house but in their hearts. Cait in her battle with CF, and for having Rosebella anyway and doing a damned fine job of parenting. Joey for turning his life around. Bump for walking on the earth and in the clouds at the same time. Steph for sticking with school and going after her dreams. My family and friends who overcome daily issues and move along in their lives in spite of them. Mikey, who keeps me inspired in an uninspirational job. Rogue who follows his dreams, and never compromises his personal philosophies. Jorge who has built a whole new life for himself after escaping a nightmare. And Bill who rebuilt his whole life after financial sabotage and managed to keep his decency and integrity intact. Christopher Reeve (Extraordinary courage and creativity right up to the last minutes of his life.)Also, Dana, his wife was inspirational as well. (I've come a ways from when my heroes used to be Batman, Captain Kirk, Tonto, and Mary Poppins, although they were not bad starts.

ancient history revisited!

Hi Everybody! Check this out. I wrote it in 1991. I can't believe how discouraged I was. In the meantime I saw Harlan Ellison at Dragon Con in 2004 and developed a whole new attitude and approach. Ta...
