TOMMY SIMMONDS - Biography
Profoundly inspired by the nature in Borneo where he grow up, and with a strongly adventurous personality, he travelled to many countries. He has worked and lived in Kuala Lumpur and in Singapore, and is now based in London where he decided to remain and to launch his music career.
He always been artistic and he started singing at a very early age in church and has often performing in public; he was deeply influenced by his mother, a Mandarin folk singer. Tommy studied at the Malaysian Institute of Art, the Academy of Contemporary Music, and the London College of Music; eventually opening up a whole new music direction.
Tommy's musical influences includes Jazz, Soul, Acoustic, Pop, Folk, and World music. Because of having lived and worked in several countries, and having a love of travelling, he speaks and sings fluently in English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka. He has proved himself to be entertaining, versatile, charismatic and above all talented. When you hear him sing you become strongly aware of his genuine love of music.

Tommy's time has been spent performing in various venues in the Malaysia, Singapore and UK, and has worked with Sense of Sounds, the UK Chinese Ensemble and many more.
The highlights of Tommy's career was appeared on national television and performed on stage with one of his favourite artist, Asian Super Star - Lee Hom at the Star Arena Genting Highland, Malaysia.
At the Manchester International Festival 2007, he was a guest vocalist for a visual art show at the Opera House, created by Arto Lindsay and Rirkrit Tiravanija - Il Tempo del Postino.
Tommy also involved in Damon Albarn (from Blur, Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad & The Queen), Jamie Hewlett and Chen Shi-Zheng's new circus opera - Monkey: Journey To The West at the Palace Theatre.
Most recently, Tommy has been secretly coaching Freya Dawson for months, preparing for her £4m 21st Birthday party - with special guest, the Grammy Award winner Mark Ronson. Party took place in Gloucestershire on 21/06/08.
Through all the past experiences, he has developed a strong interest in vocal production research and is regularly coaching other singers. He is committed to continuing learning and to developing his very own musical style.
In addition to his great musical talent, he has extensive experience in art and design and this reinforces his sense of the dramatic and contribute to his unique capacity as an artist.

"I've been musical for as long as I can remember. Music has always been the biggest passion of my life. I consider my voice, ears and eyes as a gift from God and I feel blessed that I am able to create. I sing and write because this is a way of expressing myself and it is a central part of who I am. Every journey brings new challenges and every new day is always different; nobody knows what the future holds. I believe that I can accomplish anything that I want, but of course nothing in life will come easily, but I do believe that this is going to be an amazing journey.
"I enjoy writing and performing and would like to connect with other artists and musicians with complementary styles for joint gigs, events etc. I am also looking for possible collaborations."
