Alena has a wealth of musical performance experience culminating in a MA in Performance & Media Health, BMus in Popular Music Performance, Diploma in Popular Music, and an HNC in Performing Arts.Alena specialises in using music and performance to enhance personal competence such as presentation skills, confidence & self-esteem, as well as having extensive knowledge on the health of musicians particularly that of singers. Having completed extensive research in areas such as stage fright and performance she is experienced in guiding people through nerves and self-defeat in order to gain the best performance possible. She is both patient and understanding and uses her own experience of battling with nerves and stage fright to help others feel at ease and confident that they can overcome and produce a performance of excellence.She is currently a vocal tutor for two pioneering musical educators within the United Kingdom, iGospel.UK and Vocaltech Vocal School.Through iGospel.UK - the leading gospel educators in the UK - she conducts gospel style workshops within schools, (both primary and secondary), adult learning centers and age activity groups, teaching vocal technique stylistic to gospel singing as well as general vocal technique.As a tutor at Vocaltech Vocal School - England’s leading contemporary vocal school (part of the Tech Music Schools) - she teaches Voice Production and Classic and Contemporary Styles covering stylistic as well as general vocal production and technique for all contemporary musical styles.Alena also works as a tutor and session vocalist for Sense of Sound - a company who provide vocal coaching and development across the UK and internationally - and The Comedy School where she has continued to develop her teaching skills. This has resulted in her working with various sections of the community including specialist music colleges, council services, prisons and the mental health sector. She is confident and able to work with all types of people from various communities.As well as teaching, Alena is also a successful vocalist and singer-songwriter and regularly performs her own music. She had the privilege of being the support act for the ‘legendary’ Chaka Khan and performed the classic “I’m Every Woman” with Chaka Khan & Lulu at Shepherds Bush Empire.
