Laura June Barnes is a singer/songwriter with so much to give. She has developed from a ‘loud mouth’ singer at the age of 12 bashing out “5 Gold Rings!!!” in her Christmas school concert to "a singer with passion, soul and astounding control."Brought up listening to her Fathers Toto, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan albums, Laura June Barnes has obviously been inspired by some of the worlds most accomplished singer/songwriters.Laura June Barnes had been compared with the likes of Eva Cassidy and Anastacia. Eva Cassidy because of her "vocal stamina, beautiful vibrato and flawless pitching" and also compared to Anastacia for the ‘rock chick’ that burst out with the "most impressive strong and never ending range" during some of her bigger tracks.Laura’s style is a combination of soul and old school R & B, with a hint of jazz harmonies thrown in to make your ears prick up. With a deep admiration for vocal talents such as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, Laura has taken a lot of her vocal style from these artists but has combined it with her love of the song writing talents of the artists she grew up listening to in her parents album collection, especially that of Steely Dan, Billy Joel and the one off haunting ballads of Toto.Laura June Barnes stands out as an artist, as all the concentration is on the vocals. The songs she writes are almost there to act as an outlet for which her "admirational voice and stunning harmonies" can be heard. With a brother and father who are both highly successful musicians in their own right, Laura June Barnes has had opportunities to perform and work on her material with some of the best and inspiring musicians in the country, such as; Pete Murray (Robbie Williams, Seal), Steve Stroud (Chaka Khan, Queen), Danny Marsden (Every big band and orchestra you could name!) and Mike Haughton (Cliff Richard, Iona). Laura’s work with the above musicians has led to many highly praised recommendations to studios such as The Voice and Music Company to offer her vocal talents as well as being approached by successful songwriters who want to add a “cool, smooth vocal” to their work.Laura June Barnes is also a highly successful Vocal Arranger, with a natural ear for beautifuly blending harmonies, Laura has the ability to bring any song to life.Laura is a very talented vocal coach and has recently returned from Moscow where she worked as the vocal coach on their 'X-Factor' style TV show, 'CTC Finds a Superstar!' (backstage photos can be seen below). The winner of the show, received a scholarship to study at Vocaltech, part of Tech Music Schools in London where Laura is a resident vocal coach. Nyusha will hopefully start her course in April and Laura is looking forward to welcoming her to the school. Laura also teaches vocals and ensemble skills for The Greenwich Music Service. Laura understands many different styles and has the ability to bring most singers to their full potential within their chosen field. Laura strives to inspire both young children and adults alike to increase their confidence as performers and musicians.
