DAMA DE FERRO [email protected] de Ferro, the space made up of iron, glass and concrete, signed off by the multi media artist Adriana Lima, became known through the excelency in it's nights. The name of the club is a translation for "Iron Maiden", the medieval torture instument, or quite possibly the "Iron Lady", a connotation used to describe the once prime minister of England, Margareth Thatcher... Whatever!.. Who knows, "Dama de Ferro" could be Adriana Lima herself?.. In Portuguese, "dama" means "lady", and "de ferro" means "of iron"-so there ya go!..Since May 2002, when the "little club" opened it's doors for the first time, it's been over 150 world class international DJs that have played behind the classic bath tub in Dama, not counting with several other national DJs that have molded classic nights that have become memorable over these past years...Top Brazilian DJs, such as Mau Mau, Pareto, MaurÃcio Lopes, and Gil Barbara, amongst others, as well as international DJs, such as DJ Hell, David Carreta, Mark Moore, Ivan Smagghe, Carl Craig, Paul Mac, Sven Väth, Michael Mayer, Underground Resistance (UR), and also high level live acts not just such as the Burden brothers from Detroit, that make up Octave One, but also Märtini Brös from Berlin, and Luomo from Finland. As interesting as the DJs, is the diversified crowd that shows up for the club's hot nights, that every day receives new club goers...The club also promotes art events, especially in the avant garde style, like performances, poetry readings, shows, and ehxibitions. Not locking it's options to uniquely the presentation of DJs and their electronic music, live music sometimes also finds a space for itself in the club's busy calendar, couting on sporadic Rock shows, which cause a stirup in the crowd, leading to a crowd that is most certainly never the exact same... The implementation of audio visual presentations are also many times incorporated in the night, via VJs hired for the specific job.In May 2006, Dama de Ferro completed 4 years, and with this, a great party was thrown to celebrate the club's anniversary, with several local DJs carrying the night away... This year Adriana prepared a little surprise for everyone who was getting too used to the décor. New walls, new floors, new areas, more space, new lighting, and to everyone's delight, especially the DJs, new sound system, including new top of the line DJ equipment. The main dance floor was moved downstairs and a new lounge was created on the second floor, where iDJs play their iPods using an appropriate mixer to create a different mood, so now people get to choose between two different ambients...Rio's nights now have a new feel since Dama showed up in the scene. Check out the design and the atmosphere of the club, and when you go to Rio de Janeiro, don't forget to go through the Dama de Ferro experience.....
