Here comes trouble the four skinny teenagers of Melbourne's Menace climb up on stage looking like they're about to perform a lip-sync rock and roll pantomime for their parents, then BOOM - they're off like a bottle-rocket, screeching and screaming, threatening to take out somebody's eye.
"How can they possibly be so talented at such a young age ? What, did they start practicing in the womb? Have they snuck out of detention from some Rock n Roll Junior High ? For fucks sake, I have socks older than these kids and they are absolutely ripping it up, delivering a tight, power packed set of Acka-Dacka inspired mayhem. Little bastards ". Review of Spectrum show in Sydney - by Drew Clarke, Brag Magazine 3.10.05
MENACE, hailing from Melbourne, Australia have been performing their brand of rock in pubs and clubs for two years. They sound and play like seasoned professionals even though they're all only 17yo...it's scarry!!!
Formed in 2003, MENACE developed their skills playing songs of their favourite bands such as AC/DC. Led Zeppelin, The Darkness, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith and Guns n Roses. During this time they were also writing and before too long they worked their original material into their live set and now that's all they play.
2005 saw MENACE go from strength to strength having articles and gig reviews in all the major dailys, street press, television appearances on The C Word, SYNTV, Asylum TV, Noise TV and radio interviews. They have supported some of Australias most successful bands such as Magic Dirt, Thirsty Merc, the awesome Electric Mary and made their 1st trip to Sydney where they received rave reviews.
Also, received Best rock track at the Kool Skool 2005 Music awards held in October ' 05 at Telstradome...no mean fete since it was picked from 29 compilation albums from all states in Australia.
2006 has already seen them perform at prestigious venues like The Palace, The Hi-Fi Bar, Prince of Wales, The Tote, The Espy, The Greenroom and the TGIO concert @ the Myer Music Bowl to name a few.
April 2006 saw them taken over to London by major label Polydor UK where they showcased their material to execs, publishers and NME mag reps.
They have commenced recording debut album with the legendary David Carr @ his Rangemaster studio with release scheduled for late 2008.
One of the tracks "Lady Red" has been confirmed for soundtrack in Aus feature film "Acolytes" due for release in 2008 and as requested by the director recorded a cover of the legendary Died Pretty's "Sweatheart" which is also included in the film soundtrack. They have also made a cameo appearance on an episode of a new weekly TV show to be screened late 2008.
MENACE are visual, powerful, entertaining, and if you dont know about them now..........you soon will.
Who knows what the future may hold but they sure are having fun finding out....so !! ...get on the Menace train for one super ride NOW!!!
