I love working with actors. I love collaborating with visual artists and designers. I meditate, and I ride my bicycle almost everywhere. I love sharing and experimenting with raw foods. For me, there is no form of creative expression that digs deeper into the substance of its creators than filmmaking. Space travel, astronomy, and the physical sciences have always captivated me, and are counterbalanced in my life with a strong motivation for spiritual growth.
Dare to inspire me!
I recommend listening to my dear friends Annette Farrington and Irina Bjorklund.
Right now, the top ten are 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Lawrence of Arabia, Fanny & Alexander, City Lights, Star Wars, The Third Man, Autumn Sonata, Lord of the Rings, and Psycho.
As for my favorite moviegoing experiences, the top five are Return of the Jedi with my Mom on my 5th birthday, Solaris (Tarkovsky's) at the Nuart with Clea, Primer at the Nuart with Shane Carruth, The Fifth Element opening night in Hadley MA with Joe, and lastly, There Will Be Blood, New Years Eve '08 at the Cinerama Dome.
The Screenwriter's Workbook, by Syd Field; Making Movies, by Sid Lumet; The Teachings of the Masters of the Far East, by Baird Spaulding; The Plays of William Shakespeare, Plato's Republic, and beyond that I just love to read.
On the game front, I feel White Wolf's Aeon Trinity is a work of creative genius and a damn near perfectly executed world that will forever go unheralded because the aesthetic of it was so outside the box and non-archetypal that nobody could latch on but me. My inner geek may have been born and bred on Star Wars, but Werewolf: the Apocalypse turned me on to epic storytelling, rather than the operatic action we all soaked up in the '80's. Naturally, I also have an irrational love for AD&D 2nd Edition, and all things Forgotten Realms in particular.
Howard Hughes, Charlie Chaplin, and Julius Caesar.
