The Screwed are a Toronto based band playing vintage punk and garage rock covers from the late 60's to late 70's.
Here's their version the Damned's "Neat Neat Neat" recorded live at the Dakota Tavern November 2006. The audio for this video was engineered and mixed by Peter J. Moore .
The Screwed was conceived by guitarist Steve Koch and drummer Cleave Anderson, both fixtures in the late’70’s punk/new wave movement. They thought it would be fun and meaningful to play a bunch of punk rock standards that seemed to be all but forgotten. The group was completed with the addition of John Borra on bass and Steve Saint on vocals.
When Radio-X launched a line of t-shirts to honour the bands from the 1970's scene, the Screwed invited original members from these historic bands to get up on stage after nearly thirty years and do the songs that were a staple of the scene in Toronto, Hamilton and London.
On June 29, 2006, the Horseshoe Tavern, a venue where these great bands had played in the late 1970s, hosted the event. The Screwed acted as a “house band” and it was, by all accounts, a success.
The Screwed have built upon the original concept: here are some video clips we've put together to give you an overview of the show's evolution.

Here's a punk garage classic "Kicks", by Paul Revere And The Raiders, performed by the Screwed live at the Dakota Tavern, Toronto, October 26, 2007.

Here's a Canadian punk rock classic, "New York City", written by the Demics and performed by the Screwed in November 2006.

Here's John and Cleave in 2006 when they were members of Viletones. Founding member Steven Leckie participated in one of the "Screwed Presents" shows. The Screwed's Steve Koch was a member of Viletones in 1979 and the Demics in the early 1980s.

Here's some footage of vocalist Steve Saint and his first band the Sinisters, capturing some of the Stooges styled mayhem they were known for in the 1990s.
