This cataclysmic mix of high energy boogie woogie and humorous burlesque performing arts will put a smile on your face that will last for days. Prepare for standing ovations, unregulated dancing and rowdy encores.
Boogie Woogie Burlesque is visual and musical entertainment packed with fast, intelligent, surreal and humorous verbal exploration around the history of New Orleans, boogie woogie and Burlesque culture by the extremely energetic and charismatic frontfigure Ulf Sandström, aka Il Capitan. Next to Ulf you find Mighty Bo – a historical saxophone player worthy of the very greatest, and Mephisto Jr - the dangerous, yet comical knife juggling latex magician.
Add to this a diverse cast of impressive artists like for example the amazing rubberprincess Bendy Wendy, the painresistant Miss Psycho or the mindboggling and saucy Kalki Hula Girl. An international audience will feel right at home, Il Capitan speaks four languages and has worked worldwide over 20 years.

Up front you find the energetic, charismatic and motor-mouthed piano demon Il Capitan (Ulf Sandström) singing and talking non-stop, but with a message. And again, maybe not.

Mighty Bo (Bo Gustafsson) - ex pop-star in ska-reggae band Dag Vag honks a tenor madly, alternating with a jazzy alto and vocal input. Occasionally he performs the illegal male erotic dance that is part of the survival skills in the northern parts of scandinavia.

Kenneth Björnlund and Surjo Benigh are one of Scandinavias absolutely best rhythm sections available. They guarantee high profile energy and musicianship in any occasion.

Rubber Princess Bendy Wendy and knife throwing illusionist Mephisto Jr add the precise ingredients necessary to this gumbo.

Influences: The musical influences range from boogie woogie from the absolute turn of the previous century in the style Amos Milburn and Willie Dixon to rhythm'n blues by Fats Domino, Professor Longhair and jazz in the spirit of Mose Alison.

There is piano boogie material in the spirit of Roosevelt Sykes and Champion Jack Dupree and there is early rock'n roll in a Little Richard kind of way. You could also mention Jimmy Yancey, Pete Johnson, Floyd Dixon, Eddie Bo and Tommy Ridgley plus Frogman Henry.

Follow this strain and end up at Ray Charles, James Brown and Little Feat. There is a lot of original material.
Sounds Like: In some ways like a New Orleans rhyhtm'n blues band from early days, and in other ways like a sixties acid group. Inbetween there is soft jazz and swing with the occasional blues and spiritual. piano boogie, longhair, milburn, little richard, mike sanchez, fats domino, charles brown.
