About Me

I have been in the music business for 35 years... Wow, it's been a while - and I still love it.
I have built dozens of studios, a ton of custom pro-audio gear, engineered and produced countless records... we call 'em CD's now... and, yep! I'm still at at.
Here's some of my latest work...
-- If you are trying to get started in the music business, whether it be performing or building your own studio, drop me a line. Maybe I can help. :-)
You can check me out on my home site at JHBRANDT.NET
I began my carreer in 1971 working wirh local bands and then with ex-Fleetwood Mac member, Jeremy Spencer.
I toured Belgium, France, Germany, and Italy running sound for live concerts. I worked as assistant engineer at ABC recording studio in Paris, France. Engineer at Bobby Solo’s Studio in Laurentina, Italy (near Rome). In London and Midlands (Leicester & Birmingham), England, where I had my own business repairing and re-building amps and doing recording work & live performance sound.
I owned & operated JHB Sound Productions recording studio in Harker Heights, Texas and engineered live concerts for The Judds, Michael Martin Murphy, Tanya Tucker, David Clayton Thomas.
I was engineer for Bob Millsap at Ironside Studios in Branson, Missouri where I worked with Rodney Dillard, Ray Price, Shoji Tabuchi, Tommy Overstreet, Sissy Lynn (daughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn), and many more.
I created Brandt Audio Devices in Nashville, Tennessee, and designed & installed at least two dozen recording studios in the Nashville area.
I have engineered, produced records and performed technical service for folks like: Byron Gallimore, Bull Hullett, Nelson Larkin, Mike Clute, Ray Kennedy, Max T. Barnes, Randy Thomas, Bob Dipiro, Dennis Morgan, Mark Moseley, Gene Breeden, Owen & Bobby Bradley, Jeff Brock, Paul Scholton, Butch Carr, Wayne Carson, Angela F. Pontier, Hank Cochran, Sandra Orr, D.C. Bellamy, Nancy Bryan, Jerome Harris, Arthur Dodge, Eddie Campbell, Mike Daniels, Michael Lunn, Richard Dodd, Hal Rugg, John Nicholson, Warren Peterson, John Jonethis, Bernie Leadon, Mark O’Connor, Jim Mckell, Clay Mills, Gary Talent, Marshall Morgan, Jim Cotten, Danny Parks, Eric Pittarelli..... I designed and built custom electronics for many studios and performers including Mark O’Connor and Paul Simon. Recently, I worked with Eddie Kramer (Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Peter Frampton, Ted Nugent...) on Jimmy D. Lane’s latest record.

My Interests

I Love working with artists in the studio. Building custom pro audio gear. Designing Studios. And, of course, mixing great records.

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet anyone who is interested in music bussiness networking. Serious people only. I do 'real' music with 'real' instruments in a REAL studio. I don't do the 'cheap 'n easy' junk.
I love ALL types of music.
I am alway:s available to talk to anyone who needs assistance in producing music, managing artists, designing electronics, studio design & construction.
This is what I do. I love it and am always happy to help. -Just please don't expect to make a million bucks without putting a million bucks worth of effort and sweat and savings into the project. :-)

Music:

I love ALL music. - But it's gotta be good... composed and performed with much thought and effort. ;-)

Movies:

Hey... nothing like a good action movie - right guys...?

Again, it's kinda like the music question... Anything really good. But I gotta admit that I'm a sucker for anything sci-fi or fantasy. I also enjoy a good drama. I think that the one that sticks with me from way-back would be "One Flew Over the Cuck-Coos Nest". Absolutely fantastic. The Matrix is a must see. I really love the "Lord of the Rings" - I think that anything that Peter Jackson does is worth seeing.

Yeah, and I love a good comedy... Jim Cary is unbelieveable!... even in serious roles. Very good actor!

Television:

I really only watch movies on tv. and sometimes the news.

I really don't have too much time to waste. ;-)

Books:

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Heroes:

All those unsung 'heroes' that go day to day and produce wonderful values for the world to enjoy and prosper. Those unique and driven individuals that daily improve living conditions for everyone by their creative endeavors and just plain hard work.

If you are a value producer... I SALUTE YOU!!

To hell with the parasites and destructives that have nothing to offer the world!! - So go do something about it!! ;-)
