The Original Social worker who is also known by various names such as The Shepherd, Mr. Shumba and Teba 20.5.2.1 Digitally is a Ragga muffin artist whos music career started with a Kwaito Band called Skeem.Teba, who was still part of this Band when it was awarded the FNB Sama Award for Best Township Pop, with their debut hit song Waar Was Jy? in 1997, had the pleasure of experiencing the freedom that a caged bird experiences when it starts to sing.
Persistent to liberate themselves, Skeem, continued making music under the Ghetto Ruff label, and hits like Iskhathi from the Salute Album emerged. In addition, Skeem, used their music as a voice for the voiceless by making a soundtrack: Tlo be rele daar to a TV Series called Yizo Yizo, which was a series that addressed issues that occur in poverty stricken areas.Growing up in one of the Cape Town ghettos: Gugulethu aka Gùgùletõa, where he was born and bred, he was later toasted and buttered in Johannesburg, where he got his national recognition as an artist. He engaged himself in the arts and used his skills to rise above the poverty he was exposed to daily. Most of his artistic work has been based on human and arts development. With the art skills he initially learnt from his primary school St Marys, that were later enhanced with the assistance of The Community Arts Project, he continues to share with his town ship fellows his policy of never giving up.Tebas dedication and perseverance has allowed him the opportunity of traveling overseas; going to countries like France, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific Islands, Solomon Islands as well as Germany and Finland. He has also shown his belief and value: Charity begins at home by sharing his words in our home countries such as Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.Tebas genuine style and energy towards music, attracted many well known South African artists, who, though were from a diverse music background, were still interested in working with him. As a result he was requested to work in partnership with South African kwaito, reggae and African fusion artists. To mention a few, Teba has worked in partnership with Ishmael, P.O.C, Sharon D, and Alexis Faku (from a South African reggae band called Oyaba), Mdu Masilela, Crossby from Chronic Clan, Junior Dread (from Boom Shaka), Derex, Gurash, Oude Meeste, Trybe, KB, Dj Dope, and Jabu Sibumbe.Tebas unique, Azanian raggamuffin style, captures the hearts of all races and genders universally. His blazing project, called: 20521 Manifesto is full of solid tracks that give hold to his first entry as a solo artist. His versatility as an artist on this album is second to none and reflects his ability to work with artists in various other genres. 20-5-2-1 Manifesto features the likes of DJ Azuhl, Shameema Williams and EJ von LYRIK from Godessa, Tumi Molekani from Tumi and the Volume, Chronic Clan, Ghetto Muffin and Spencer. Teba worked with one of South Africa's most renown independant producers of colour named Grenville Williams, who produced South Africa's first female hip hop group, Godessa, who went international. 20-5-2-1 Manifesto is distributed by Kurse Music Distribution in South Africa. The objective of this project is to revive the revolutionary spirit that had ceased to flame after the 1994 election. He is emphasizing the importance to continue the struggle towards achieving humanity, even in this pro-election era.UMZABALAZO UYAQHUBEKEKA
