About Me

High Voltage Entertainment was setup in 2004 by music producer Grenville Williams and Godessa mc and producer EJ von lyrik and handles music production for artists as well as tv and film soundtracks. Production work includes hip hop, ragga, reggae, funk, dub and dance music and all forms electronic. Albums produced on the label include Godessa's Spillage, Teba's 20-5-2-1 manifesto, Jitsvinger's Skeletsleutel, Mr Dmus's 360 Degrees of Music and Ej Von Lyrik's Method in the Madness.
Grenville started his music career as bass player for the Cape Town rock band Nine and toured and performed live all over South Africa in th late 90's sharing stages with bands like Springbok Nude Girls, Squeal and Sugardrive at festivals like Up The Creek, Woodstock and Oppiekoppie. He also played for the reggae/funk band "Firng Squad" and made regular guest appearances on bass for Moodphase 5ive. Nowadays he performs live with reggae artist Teba and Hip hop group Godessa and have travelled and performed in Cuba, UK, US, Spain, Belgium, Finland, France and Ethiopia sharing bills with artists like Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters, Black Eyed Peas, Pj Harvey and Julian Marley amongst others. Local performance highlights are numerous and include Cell C Sounds of the City2006, Heritage Day Fest CPT 2006, Levis Rage for the Revolution 2005, North Sea Jazz Festival CPT 2004.
Songs he produced have been released on Cape Town label African Dope Records and High Voltage/KMD as well as international labels such as Otravez in Switzerland, Lowlands Records in Belgium, Out/Here Records in Germany, Chocolate Factory Firegaurd Records and Acid Jazz Records in the UK. Godessa's album "Spillage" produced by Grenville was nominated for a Metro FM Music Award ifor best hip hop album in 2005 and voted one of the top 5 albums at the African Hip Hop Indaba 2004 The Afrikaans album he produced for rapper Jitsvinger entitled "Skeletsleutel" was nominated for Best Hip Hop Album at the Geraas Musiek Toekennings 2005. June 2006 saw the release of the album "Rogue State of Mind" which was a project he participated in, collaborating with Swiss and South African mc's and producers.

Band Members: Most of the music production is handled by Grenville and Ej. Dubmasta China, who is Cape Town's top ragga/ dancehall/reggae dj by far (ask anyone on the street) contributes towards production and dj Azuhl of the Cape Flats Beatbangers Crew ( South Africa's most in demand hip hop dj posse) handles all turntable duties at Voltage Studios Mixing and mastering is done by Grenville while all graphics and design is handled by Roger WilliamsWhen performing live, the High Voltage artists like Godessa and Teba are backed by the following musicians:
