Born 1976 in Kassel, Christian Weidner studied saxophone in Hamburg, Stockholm and Berlin, enjoying lessons with John Ruocco, Joakim Milder, Kamalesh Maitra, Charlie Mariano, Kenny Werner...
Since 1999 Weidner is living in Berlin. His current projects as a leader are the Weidner Palesano Schröteler trio with Antonio Palesano (p,electr) and Daniel Schröteler (dr,electr) and the Royce formations with Simon Stockhausen (synth,electr).
In addition he is working as a sideman in Antonis Anissegos amoebas 4 group together with John Schröder and Chris Dahlgren. He also joins John Schröder's piano trio frequently and plays in Dejan Terzic´s Band "Underground" with Frank Möbus and Henning Sieverts and in Sebastian Merk`s Band "Merkur". In other projects he plays with Samuel Rohrer, Kalle Kalima, Eric Schaefer, Rainer Tempel, Nils Wogram, Jim Black and many others.
Since 2006 he also subs in the islandic jazzfusionband Mezzoforte.
In the past he experienced intense collaborations with Albert Mangelsdorff in the German- French-Jazzensemble and with Gunter Hampel in his various groups, playing with Perry Robinson, Nils Wogram, Willem Breuker a.o..
With these bands he played concerts and festivals throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and Northamerica, recorded various CDs and did various productions for Radio and TV stations.
