Embolex
In the year 2000 three video makers joined up to form the Embolex VJ’s collective. The group presented at parties with many national and international names of the electronic music scene. They also produced video-scenarios for music concerts with artists, such as Instituto, Záfrica Brasil, Fernanda Porto, Autoload and Fat Marley (André Abujanra).
Embolex presented in the main Festivals in Brasil: Skol Beats, Electronika BH, Nokia Trends and Sonar Sound SP.
The collective showed their visuals in Fine Art venues such as the Vermelho Gallery and Extra Bienal, as well.
In 2004 the Embolex project developed an audio visual format and included DJ Periferico and MC Gaspar in presentations at the Festival Brasil NoAr in Barcelona, at the Vibe Bar in London and at the Ruspoli Castle in Vignelo, Italy.
In 2005 they participated at the Vivo Open Air Cinema in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. They were also at the Brasil Eletronico projects at CCBB (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) and at the “Delirio†parties in Rio de Janeiro.
They developed projections and animations for commercial films (Coca-Cola Vibe Zone, Always) and a video-scenario for the Pocket Opera about Santos Dummont, together with Arrigo Barnabé and Luiz Ge at Sesc Ipiranga SP.
In 2006 the importance of their work was again recognized with the lining up of Embolex Live as main attraction of the just created AV stage in the Skol Beats Festival, one of the biggest in the world.

Vjing/clubbing
Embolex vj’s project uses a variety of techniques to build live non-linear narratives. The synaesthesia created depends on the music played by the dj but the idea is not to translate the music into images but to create something else. Using loops of scenes that were shot with actors and graphics in a bricolage of visual elements that fits much more into the atmosphere of the sound elements.
In this DVD there are some samples of our images. They were produced in the last 6 years. Every presentation is different and combines political issues and psychological images in a very urban environment. The music can be from Hip-Hop to Minimal Techno because the diversity of materials permits to adjust this narrative to different BPMs.
The work is done by 3 VJ’s using a self programmed Isadora with a MIDI controller, Modul8 and DVD-J.
Embolex Live – Audio Visual Performance
The Embolex collective started to develop this AV in 2003. In the last 2 years the production of music is happening in complete combination with the creation of images.
Each track develops one subject or atmosphere permitting the interference of other sounds during the presentation.
Embolex collective is formed by 3 VJ’s and the music producer and DJ Periférico with MC Gaspar from Zafrica Brasil (2 of the biggest future promises in brazilian music).
This mixture creates different rhythms, since the collective wants to feel more committed with the synaesthesia rather than with the borders of music styles.
Using a lot of brazilian music elements from the past and the present this AV is at the same time a body and mind experience. All the material is produced exclusively for the presentation but there are also remixes of Brazilian films and others samples that add to create the media jockeys narrative experience.
