ENGLISH BIO:

There are bands which sounds so authentic that you can hear them out from hundreds of bands and you can recognise. This is Bilingüe. The music of Bilingüe would carry you on the typical Piazzas in the south of Italy, on the charming Rambla of Barcelona or in a bohemian caravan settlement in the outback of Andalusia. At each of these places no more than two guitars, a bass, Percussions and crashing, emotion-loaded song. The debut of the same name album "Bilingüe" (In two languages) take all that together.

With Bilingüe a band has been brought into being by Manuel and Davide which especially reflects their common passion and love for the Mediterranean lifeline. 1994 they got to know each other in a school-band and soon found out that both of them liked to go on playing music together even after having finished school.

Under the name of Chicos de Lana they decided, end of ´96, beginning of ´97, to interpret new some of their favorite songs from moorish, balkan and south-american music. (The bands name was derived from lyrics of the band MAU MAU Pueblos de Langa, without wanting to give a special meaning to it,)

At the beginning the line-up changed permanently. Rehearsals nearly never took place. Concerts were played completely extemporized or arranged by visual contact. The concept was based on a simple instrumentation, consisting of guitar, cajon and vocals.

2003 out of a large band a smaller but constant line-up crystallized.

In this line-up the band has been working on own songs for some time. Already for years Manuel and Davide have been carrying with themselves the underlying song-ideas. But its important to both of them to develop the arrangements of the songs together with the rest of the band, in order to be able to perform them on stage as dynamic as possible.

Additionally there is the polyphone, rich vocals. Their shades, which are capable of showing a song in a new light again and again, carry from plaintive, gentle, expressive passages to euphonic and rhythmic playing with words and sounds.

Es gibt Bands, die so authentisch klingen dass man sie aus Hunderten heraushören und wieder erkennen kann. Mal ist es die Stimme, die sich beim ersten Erklingen sofort im Gehörgang festgesetzt hat oder die prägnanten Rhythmen, die einen binnen Sekunden an einen ganz anderen Ort versetzen können. Eine Band mit Wiedererkennungswert. Das ist Bilingüe. Die Musik von Bilingüe würde einen wohl auf die charakteristischen Piazzas Süditaliens, auf die bezaubernde Rambla Barcelonas oder in eine Bohèmische Wohnwagensiedlung im Hinterland Andalusiens befördern. An jedem dieser Orte nicht mehr als zwei Gitarren, ein Bass, Percussions und schmetternder, emotionsgeladener Gesang. Das gleichnamige Debüt-Album Bilingüe (zweisprachig) bringt all das auf den Punkt.

Manuel und Davide haben mit BILINGÃœE eine Band ins Leben gerufen die insbesondere ihre gemeinsame Passion und Liebe zur mediterranen Lebensader wiederspiegelt. 1994 lernten sich die beiden im Schulbandunterricht kennen und stellten schon sehr bald fest, dass sie auch nach ihrer Schulzeit weiterhin zusammen Musik machen wollten.

Ende `96, Anfang `97 entschlossen sich die beiden unter dem Namen CHICOS DE LANA ein paar ihrer Lieblingssongs aus der maurischen, balkanischen und südamerikanischen Musik neu zu interpretieren. (Der Name wurde aus einem Songtext der Band MAU MAU Pueblos de Langa abgeleitet, ohne dem Namen eine bestimmte Bedeutung geben zu wollen.)

Die Besetzung variierte anfangs ständig. Proben fanden fast nie statt. Die Auftritte wurden völlig improvisiert oder nur per Blickkontakt arrangiert. Dem Konzept lag eine einfache Instrumentierung zugrunde, bestehend aus Gitarre, Cajon und Gesang.

2003 hat sich aus einer großen Band eine etwas kleineres, festes Line Up herauskristallisiert.

In dieser Besetzung arbeitet die Band seit geraumer Zeit an eigenen Songs. Die fundamentalen Songideen dazu tragen Davide und Manu schon seit Jahren mit sich herum. Für beide ist es jedoch wichtig die Arrangements der Lieder in der ganzen Band entstehen zu lassen, um die Reproduktion auf der Bühne so dynamisch wie möglich gestalten zu können.
Markant ist das durch Cajon, Tarbuca, Conga, Djembe und teilweise auch Schlagzeug erzeugte, stark perkussive Gewand, welches die Lieder oft mit sich tragen.

Hinzu kommt der mehrstimmige, volle Gesang. Seine Schattierungen, welche ein Lied immer wieder in ein neues Licht rücken können, reichen von klagenden, sanften, gefühlvollen Passagen bis hin zu euphonischen und rhythmischen Spielen mit Worten und Lauten.

Bilingüe ist so spannend wie das Leben...
