I work in pen & ink, watercolors, and acrylics. My deepest passion is oil painting in rich jewel tones and earth colors with intricate details. My artwork has Celtic and Pre-Raphaelite influences, with some works containing hidden images. Whenever objects such as woven hair, celtic knots, tree trunks, branches or vines overlap, they represent “how all things are connected in some wayâ€. My greatest love of creating arrives, when the artwork is nearing completion. Hours are spent and enjoyed on the final lines, marks, or brush strokes.
My most recent work is a series of sensual faeries. Whenever I sketch or paint, my imagination leads me to forgotten realms. My hope is that my “Enchanted Old Worlds†take the viewer, to another time, and another place, somewhere that could have or has been. A world when Man, Woman, Beast, and Earth where more intertwined. If one looks closely, a glance at our ancient collective past might be seen…
Vicki Visconti-Tilley is an award winning and prolific fantasy illustrator and fine artist. She works in watercolor, acrylics and oils to create dramatic and sensual paintings.
Ms. Visconti-Tilley is a strong advocate for art education and is considered an “artist educatorâ€. Through a NEA Grant and partnerships with Nevada educators, she works with primary grade school teachers. Her seminar: “Exploring Reading Through the Visual Artsâ€, brings fine art, mythology, art history, and literature into the classrooms. With teenagers, she is the key artist and facilitator for the permanent installation of “A Tapestry of Dragons & Unicorns†at the Lied Children’s Discovery Museum in Las Vegas. She also works with Art Quotients, an international annual publication for student artists. Before relocating to Nevada, she taught over 3,000 students in New Mexico schools.
Vicki’s work can be seen at the new Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art’s “The Museum Storeâ€, the Old Town Gallery, and she is represented at various venues through Artists Creations. Her work has been published in numerous books and magazines. She has been awarded several “Honors†including acceptance into the Henderson Art Association, semi-finalist twice in the international L. Ron Hubbard’s, “Illustrators of the Future†competition, and recently was voted one of the “Top Ten Emerging†Romantic Fantasy Artists in the country, by the prestigious Duirwaigh Gallery.
Influenced by her European ancestry, Vicki has always known she was meant to be an artist and what her subjects would be. Her work reflects the romance and adventure of an ancient culture that she brings alive in her delicate and intricately detailed art. Her “Enchanted Old Worlds†convey our past, when Man, Woman, Beast and Earth were more intertwined.
